Walkers - Permission slips for students to walk "alone"
Giesinger's Top 10 List
10. Have frequent and open communication with your parents. Have a positive contact the first week of school with your students’ parents.
9. Take time to build relationships with your students, their parents, your peers.
8. Do not reply to emails, texts, letters, etc. when you are angry.
7. You will make mistakes, we all do. Admit them, learn from them and move on.
6. Tomorrow is always a new day. Our students appreciate that and so do we.
5. Ask questions. Always be a learner.
4. Be flexible and a team player. There is no one way to do something.
3. Listen to understand and not always to respond.
2. Make decisions based on what is best for kids.
1. Have public conversations as if they are posted on social media. Be
aware that conversations (kid talks, about parents, etc) can be overheard.
** Kindess matters.

Please Avoid Parking at the Church of Christ on Longmire
The Church of Christ on Longmire will begin repairs on their parking lot and has asked us to please avoid parking there until the end of September. We appreciate using their parking lot for the overflow of our school events and want to accommodate to help them with their needs.
Thank you for your assistance.

No Place For Hate
Giesinger has earned the No Place for Hate® designation for the 2018-2019 school year! Thank you, Amanda Barton, for leading the charge!
No Place for Hate® is an initiative of the Anti-Defamation League offered free to schools. The initiative is designed to rally the entire school around the goal of creating a welcoming community committed to stopping all forms of bias and bullying.

"Feels Like" Temperature
We will be using Weather Underground for our daily weather check.
Please use this link and/or app. Graystone Hills has a weather station here so we will use this unless it goes down.
https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/tx/conroe/KTXCONRO198
The app looks like this. Our ZIP code is 77304 then you may have to select the weather station "Graystone Hills".
Come see me if you have trouble.
If the "feels like temp" is 95-98 degrees, you may have 15 minutes of outside recess instead of 30.
If the "feels like temp" is 99 or greater there is no outside recess.
Safety & Security Building Reminders
- Classrooms and pod offices must stay locked. If the “lock down magnet” does not work on your door then you can put a magnet in the door frame. The door will be closed and locked when the magnet is removed.
- All doors should have a door-width space free from furniture, storage, and supplies in order to safely exit in emergencies.
- Classrooms, closets, and pod offices should have at least 18 inches of clearance from the ceiling.
- Wear your ID badge daily.
- Keep up with your building and classroom keys. Wearing them is an easy way to do that.
- Keep purses in locked drawers or cabinets.
- Keep candles at home and room sprays in cabinets.
- Aerosol sprays are flammable and need to be stored in locked cabinets.
- Economy size hand sanitizers should be kept in cabinets. Smaller bottles are okay for students to use.
