MMS Testing Update (In-Person)
MMS Testing Update for Students who are In-Person
Testing Information
Students who are enrolled in an EOG course (English 7/8, Math 7/8, and Science 8) have a state-required end of grade exam. All EOG exams must be taken in-person, on campus according to state regulations and State Board of Education policy. However, the EOG does not have any effect on grading or promotion status.
You should know that all EOGs are meant to gauge how much knowledge a student has acquired over the school year. EOGs are not tied to retention or promotion requirements for MMS. EOGs are not included in a student’s final grade. EOGs are used as an instructional tool.
If students are enrolled in Math 1, they must take the Math 1 EOC exam face-to-face. This exam counts 20% of the final grade, even for middle school students. Students who do not take the exam will have an Incomplete until the exam is taken, and a zero if they do not take it all.
If you have any specific questions regarding requirements for EOC, EOG, or end of year exams, please don't hesitate to reach out to the school (704.658.2720) or to Mr. Akelman (Dakelman@mgsd.k12.nc.us) with any questions.
