Patriot's Pointe
January 8 - January 12 Vol. 2 Edition 20
Happy Sunday Patriot Families!
Greetings Patriot Families,
I hope that everyone has taken some time today to reflect on the life, leadership, and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This day of service has reminded me that we all can do a little more to strive toward greatness within ourselves and to inspire it within others.
Congratulations to our first place Fayette County Science Fair winners from Sandy Creek: Daliliah Johnson, Danielle Young, Jocelyn Saldierna, and Aryn Parker who won Best Overall Senior Award. The county will come together to celebrate these students and all Fayette County winners next week on January 22, 2024 in Patriot Hall. Please mark your calendars as well for our State of the School Address and AP/IB Electives Night on January 31st at Patriot Hall.
Fall Semester report cards were issued via Infinite Campus on January 10th. If your student missed the mark of excellence and was not successful in a core content course, please see the flyer below to register for Second Chance.
Parents, we need your help! Several of our students are beginning to park their cars in the front lot of our school. All students who wish to drive and park their vehicle on campus must purchase a parking pass and park their car in the student parking lot. Please note, students parking in the front lot that is designated for faculty and guests is strictly prohibited.
Congratulations are in order for Coach Nickerson and our Varsity boys basketball team for their hard fought win against St. Anne Percelli, 73-66. Please make plans to come out and support our girls and boys basketball teams as we match up against Fayette County High School this Saturday. Our Swim team will compete this Saturday in the 53rd annual tournament at Westminster. Thank you for your support of all athletics at Sandy Creek!
We are excited to support our students in their academic endeavors while providing them with a competitive advantage!

PTSO
Did you know that your gently worn sneakers could help The Sandy Creek High School PTSO support even more students, faculty and staff?
Well, they can and here’s how…Our team is participating in a fundraiser where there is nothing to buy or sell; All we need is your support and your gently worn, used, or new sneakers!
Here’s how you can help:
As the seasons change and you clean out/organize your closets, gather as many pairs of sneakers that you no longer want; maybe you’ve out-grown them, they’re out of style, or out of season. If you and your household have 20 pairs, great! If not, don’t worry. You can ask your neighbors, friends, co-workers, and anyone in your social networks to help out. Every pair counts! The Sandy Creek High School PTSO will be collecting sneakers from December through February. Collections bins will be located in the front office.
The sneakers that we all collect will help raise money to support our program AND will help our environment by keeping sneakers out of landfills.
Can we count on you?
Counselor's Corner
On behalf of the Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) Office for Educational Outreach and Health Careers and as a part of the Health Careers Opportunity Program, we would like to cordially invite your students to the 10th Annual First Look: Health T.E.A.M. (Teaching Exposing and Mentoring) Program to be held on Saturday, February, 10, 2024 from 8:30am-4:30pm in the National Center for Primary Care (NCPC) Building on the MSM main campus (720 Westview Drive, Atlanta, GA 30310). First Look Health T.E.A.M. seeks to expose high school students within the Atlanta area to a variety of careers in the health professions, as well as providing guidance on preparation for college application and matriculation, and how to finance school through workshops and interactive exercises. Health professionals will serve as invited panel speakers to allow students an opportunity to gain insight into their journey to pursue their health careers, as well as day-to-day work life.
This is an invaluable opportunity for any high school student who has considered the health professions, as well as collegiate application. Students will also engage with medical, graduate and undergraduate students to gain a perspective of their educational path to their careers. The event is free, but registration is required. Registration will be open until Tuesday, February 6, 2024 or will close sooner if capacity is reached.
Please have students who are interested in participating register at the following link: https://forms.gle/fXXsDPpuZoAErCLo9
After students have completed registration, there will be follow-up communication regarding consent forms. Consent forms in addition to registration forms are mandatory for attendance.
For more information, visit our website: https://www.msm.edu/Education/PipelinePrograms/firstlookhealthteam.php

Our mission is to help students like yours make a successful transition from high school to higher education.
Doorway to College, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, evolved from a 30-year history of serving college-bound high school students. Doorway to College Foundation is continuing the work of the former ZAPS Learning Company, which was also dedicated to providing quality test prep to students who can't afford hundreds of dollars — or more — to raise their scores.

The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.
- Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
- Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
- After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.
