Battle of the Schools Winner!
Stevens School proudly upheld our winning record in the Battle of the Schools at Scoops and Sprinkles! This means we will receive 20% of the winnings. We will put those funds to good use for our students this school year!
Parent Teacher Conferences
Yesterday you received a communication from superintendent, Dr. Zito regarding parent teacher conferences. We are providing a choice for families to sign up for either an in person or virtual conference. Classroom teachers will send out a communication to their families soon allowing you to sign up for a time and indicate in person or virtual. In person conferences will follow the current guidelines which include wearing a mask and remaining at six feet distance. If you prefer a virtual conference then a link will be sent to your preferred email to log into your scheduled time. As you can imagine, remaining timely will be critical. Please arrive a few minutes early for in person meetings and respect the person who is following your time. If your child needs to come with you they must sit outside the room and wait quietly. This is very important in keeping the environment safe for everyone. Again, this is a great step towards normalcy and we look forward to sharing your child's progress with you on December 8, 9, or 10.
Kindergarten and Grade One Family Literacy Event
Our Stevens School reading department has created a virtual family literacy event that can be viewed and completed at your families' convenience. Today your child will bring home materials to complete the activities shared in the videos. You may choose to do one activity a day or spread them out over the next few weeks. Certain resources are provided for your reference and can be used long-term. These activities have been created specifically for kindergarten and grade one students to address critical literacy skills that may not have been properly developed during the pandemic. We want our families to partner with us in creating strong reading and writing habits for our students. The virtual event will be emailed to you separately later this afternoon, please look for it in your email.
PTO Restaurant Night
Thanksgiving is a busy time for families! Don't want to cook that week? On Tuesday, November 23 the PTO will host a restaurant night at On the Border restaurant. Save the Date for a perfect Taco Tuesday Night!
Donations
We received a very generous donation from the Walmart in Cromwell. The store donated school supplies which we will be able to use with our students in classrooms this school year. Some items include; pencils, glue sticks, paper. We are very grateful for the donation.
We also received bags from Big Y in Rocky Hill to distribute items created for our veterans. Thank you to the manager, Dan Milo!
