FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
Another week has flown by here at Fr. Doyle! Believe it or not, next week marks the beginning of October. The incredible number and variety of events taking place in October speaks to the beautiful vibrancy of our school community, as well as the dedication of our faculty, staff, and volunteers. Please be sure to read the detailed descriptions of upcoming events under Upcoming Dates and Reminders to make sure you don't miss any details!
Speaking of the dedication of our faculty and staff, I wanted to share a few things that caught my eye in classrooms this week:
- Students working collaboratively in groups to develop and improve mathematics skills
- Technology consistently being utilized to enhance learning including the use of Smartboards, Chromebooks, and tablets in all different settings and formats
- Active, hands-on learning including experimentation, inquiry-based learning, and even some gardening!
- Joy! In both students and teachers, each and every day!
How blessed we are to have such a wonderful learning community!
A few notes for the upcoming weeks...
Preparing for Basketball Season
While the basketball season starts in November, rosters and other important forms are due in October. We are currently working to determine how many boys are interested in playing and thus the number and level of teams we are able to field. With this in mind, if your son is in grades 4-8 and is interested in playing basketball this year, please email Mr. Peloquin (kevinpeloquin@fjvd.org).
Similarly, if your daughter is in grades 6-8 and is interested in playing basketball this year, join the team for an informational meeting on Tuesday, October 1st at 6:00pm in the lunchroom. Contact Coach Doyle at ddoyle615@gmail.com for more information.
Volunteers Needed!
We are currently looking for volunteers to assist with our Annual Auction! There are many different ways to get involved including at school, at home, and both large and small time commitments. See the PTO News section below for more information!
We are also in need of a Yearbook Coordinator for the 2019-2020 school year. We are excited to utilize new, user-friendly software from Lifetouch to design our Yearbook this year. If you're interested, please contact the school!
Thank you for your continued support of our school community! Wishing you and your families a restful weekend ahead.
Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin

The Auction Committee is very excited about this year’s Silent/Live Auction to be held on March 28, 2020. They would like to invite parents and teachers to join us in making this year’s fundraiser a great success.
Only have a little time to donate? That’s ok! We have a job for you! Have a lot of time to donate, that is ok, too. We have something for you! Have great handwriting, we have a job for you! Are you a take charge kind of person? We have subcommittees that need chairpersons. We are looking for help with small tasks, as well as, large tasks. If you're interested in getting involved, contact Mrs. DiChristofaro.

Fundraising & Contest Opportunities
Participate in the FJVD Certificate Program!
This program is a great way to reduce the cost of your tuition while supporting FJVDl!
The Process:
- The school purchases shopping cards from all of your favorite stores
- You purchase the cards from the school, paying face value and spending the same dollars you would have paid to the stores directly
- The school earns a percentage discount offered by participating stores.
For each $50.00 you spend, you get a stamp on your Tuition Discount Card. Fill the entire card and redeem it for a $75.00 tuition credit!
Cards currently available include:
Stop & Shop, Applebee's, Barnes & Noble, Dave's, Dunkin Donuts Panera, Wal-Mart and more!

Keep Saving Those Box Tops!
Don't forget to save your Box Tops!
See the letter below for information on uploading Box Tops to the new Box Top App!
Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up
Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
