Hawk Haven Bookstore
Hawk Haven Bookstore is open for the 2019-2020 school year. Students are invited to stop by as they walk to class on Tuesdays and Wednesdays mornings. Bookstore “employees” will be available to help younger students select and purchase books. All books are $3.00, including tax. At this time, there is a 2 book purchase limit until we have time to build-up our inventory. Cash or checks, payable to JHE, will be accepted. Please do not send bills larger than $20.00. Hawk Haven carries a variety of chapter and picture books for all age groups. Publications from different genres include: realistic fiction, nonfiction, poetry books, mysteries, science fiction, biographies, and folk tales. We are extremely excited to be able to provide this opportunity at JHE to help build a child’s love for reading in all grade levels!
Reporting Daily Absences
Attention Parents!!
We have a new online system for you to report Daily Absences. Just follow the step at the link below:
http://www.katyisd.org/campus/JHE/Pages/Absence-Reporting.aspx
Once you complete this process you do not need to call the office. The link is also available on the Hayes Elementary website.
Inclement Weather
If there is a need to call inclement weather dismissal, you will receive a text and email to the primary number/email you used when you updated Infosnap at the start of school. Please remember that we make a call at 3:00 PM. If it is just a light rain, we will do regular dismissal. Inclement weather dismissal will be called if there is lightening or a hard downpour. If bad weather pops up after 3:00, we will hold students inside until it is safe to continue. We recommend walkers bring a small umbrella in their backpack. See the parent/student handbook for all the details on inclement weather dismissal.

YMCA Before and After School Programs
The YMCA makes the most of your child's after school time by offering active learning opportunities designed to engage and expand young minds. Housed in local schools, YMCA After School Care gives your child the opportunity to get to know their schoolmates better as they engage in active play and collaborate on fun projects. In the process, they'll continue to develop the physical, educational, emotional and social skills which are proven keys for success. Please see the flyer attached.
Katy ISD Legacy Parent Academy
As our students navigate their way through the proper use of technology, parents and guardians also have to be prepared and understand how to best support and protect them. Cyberbullying is the use of technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. Katy ISD wants to help equip you with the tools and insight needed to protect, respond and report any type of cyberbullying situation.
On Wednesday, September 25, Katy ISD invites all parents to learn more about cyberbullying prevention and identification, how to respond to threats, the warning signs to protect students from falling prey to this epidemic and reporting of bullying or bully-like behavior. The event will take place at Legacy Stadium, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. in rooms ABC.
Katy ISD Legacy Parent Academy educational sessions are free and specifically designed to provide parents with the strategies and techniques to support their children. Sessions taking place throughout the school year will include experts on a variety of topics, which can be viewed on our Legacy Parent Academy website.
We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!
