Habit of the Week: Synergize
What does this mean? Synergy does not merely tolerate or value differences—it optimizes and celebrates those differences. Synergistic people are drawn to others with backgrounds, talents, perspectives, and approaches different than their own. These differences are opportunities and instruments of creativity.

Unity Day
In addition to wearing orange on October 19, a group of fifth grade leaders have planned fun activities for the week. Thank you to our Unity Crew: Abby, Alex, Alexa, Amelia, Charlotte, Emme, Harshan, Liam Nina, Olivia, and Stella
The activities include making a kindness chain, deposits in emotional bank accounts, random acts of kindness, special notes of encouragement, and more!

Trunks Needed for Trunk or Treat
Did we mention prizes will be awarded to the best trunks?! There are still a few classes without a trunk team! If you would like to pitch in, please reach out to your classroom coordinator to inquire about volunteer opportunities to give your class a chance to win!
The decorated trunk can be as simple (purchase a $10 kit on OrientalTrading.com) or elaborate as you like. Some classes have already opted to take a non-traditional approach and skip the trunk altogether! Teaming up with other parents is a great way to make this a super fun project.
Trunk or Treat- Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Lawrence Families: We invite you to showcase your fabulous Halloween-themed pumpkins at Trunk or Treat on Oct. 28, 5-7:30 PM. Decorated Pumpkins must be delivered to the designated area by 4:45 PM on 10/28. Whether carved, painted, or both, all pumpkins are welcome! Safety First Note: please NO candles/open flames in pumpkins; ONLY LED lights.
One winner will be chosen per grade level. If you plan to enter the competition, kindly register by filling out the form below by Oct. 21. Register up to four students at a time; only one pumpkin per student, please.

Volunteer Information
Volunteers will now need to complete the Online Raptor Volunteer Application, requiring digital documentation to be uploaded. The application only takes a few minutes to complete once you have gathered all of the digital documentation needed. Here is a quick overview from the website:
All volunteers working in a supervised classroom must complete the Online Raptor Volunteer Application, upload a clear TB test on file, and have a government-issued ID scanned via the Raptor system in the office prior to volunteering.
If you wish to drive for field trips or volunteer for LEAP, you are considered an extended clearance volunteer and Livescan fingerprinting is required. In addition to completing Livescan Fingerprinting, you will need to complete the Online Raptor Volunteer Application, upload a digital copy of a clear TB test, and have a government-issued ID scanned via the Raptor system in the office prior to volunteering.
Chaperones willing to transport students in a personal vehicle will need to complete the Online Raptor Volunteer Application, upload digital copies of a clear TB test, your California Driver’s License, the Private Vehicle Transportation form, and your auto insurance declaration page.(Minimum insurance requirements include: $100,00/300,000; Property Damage $50,000; Medical $5,000.)
INFORMATION REGARDING FINGERPRINTING!: Extended Volunteer Clearance requires LiveScan fingerprinting that allows for a DOJ/FBI background check through a one-time processing fee of approximately $75. Starting Monday, September 19, if you would like to receive a District-paid voucher to cover the cost of the LiveScan fingerprinting and background check, please visit our District Office during regular business hours, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at 685 East Jack London Boulevard prior to completing your fingerprinting/background check. Fingerprint results can take up to 2 months to clear from the DOJ/FBI.
