Speech Room News
November & December 2015
Dear Parents,
We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the Fall weather! It was great seeing some of you at parent-teacher conferences.
We hope that you found the September/October newsletter helpful! In November and December, our time in the speech room will be focusing on ways to share our thinking. We will pay close attention to listening with our whole body and gathering information from people, places and in all different ways; for example with our eye gaze, from gesture, tone of voice, body language etc. We will continue to highlight connections with peers and build upon group thinking. We are exploring these concepts though cooperative play, storybooks, group projects, crafts, games and celebrations. Additionally, we will continue to incorporate the concepts from September and October into session time.
We are also encouraging that the staff members and adults who spend time with our students to allow for enough time for the children to process information and respond to questions. You may have heard us refer to this as the “45 Second Rule.”
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
Warmly,
P.S. 84 Speech Team
