Principal for a Day

On January 29th, Stephen Ocella stepped out of his role as fourth grade student at Ashaway School to assume a new role - Principal for a Day. His charge was to lead the school community for a day. Stephen had a busy day and really enjoyed meeting with students and faculty. At the end of the day, we spent some time reflecting on his experience and the work he had done. When asked what his favorite part was, he replied "Managing Lunch and recess and using the Walkie Talkies to communicate with the school staff." Stephen also noted that sometimes students had trouble following the rules and this could be a challenge to deal with. He thought that visiting the classrooms was an easy part of his day and really enjoyed talking with other students and checking on their work. Before the day ended, I asked him one thing he would like to change. His reply was to teach Greek Mythology to students at an early early age.
