Big Hollow School District Mission and Vision
Our Vision "Big Hollow School District #38 will be a model of student achievement for elementary school districts in the State of Illinois."
Our Mission "Inspiring a diverse school community to be passionate and empathetic learners."
Administrative Assistants' Day
Screen Free Week
At the elementary building, "unplugged" activity sheets should have made it home to you on Wed. April 25th. Your child can fill out any activities he/she completes instead of spending time "plugged in" or on an electronic device. Students should bring them back as soon as they're filled out, and they will be displayed in the cafeteria. There will also be some dress up days:
Dress-up days for Screen-Free Week
-Monday 4/30: We’re turning off our screens to rediscover the joys reading,
day-dreaming, creating, exploring, and connecting with friends and family. Today, dress like your screen- all black!
-Tuesday 5/1: Less screen time makes more time to be active! Wear clothes
that reflect your favorite sports team or a sport you play.
-Wednesday 5/2: Less screen time leaves more time for creativity, day-
dreaming, and inventing. Wear clothes that reflect your creative side (maybe and invention convention shirt or a reading week shirt).
-Thursday 5/3: Screens disrupt good sleep. Wear pajamas or comfy clothes to
show you’re ready to turn off your screens and get a good night’s sleep!
-Friday 5/4: Screen Free Week is about discovering what you’re passionate
about beyond screens. Wear something that expresses you and your interests!
At the primary building, students will have a raffle ticket page that will go home and each night they are screen free, they can fill out a ticket and bring it back to school. At the end of the week the teachers will be doing raffle drawings for all classrooms. In the library, the kids will also be hearing a story that corresponds to screen free week.
PARENTS AND GUARDIANS: On Thursday, May 3rd, PLEASE join us for a TED TALK presentation and discussion from 6:30-7:30 pm in the elementary school cafeteria!!!

Please help us! :)
We recently opened a PBIS student store and could use donations of small prizes (see picture) for students to be able to "purchase" with their STARbucks! If you have any small prizes hanging around your home that you would like to donate, we would need the items in quantities of 30 or more so that students can plan out their purchases. You can send in the items to either the Primary or Elementary office. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!!
All Big Hollow students are STAR students! Big Hollow students will be expected to show Self Control, Take Responsibility, keep a positive Attitude, and always be Respectful. Many students have earned rewards and positive behavior referrals for being positive role models. If you would like to contribute and help to our PBIS program, please contact us. :)
Some Friendly Reminders :)
Children may be dropped off starting at 8:15 am every morning. Students must exit the vehicle unassisted on the curb side only between the two crosswalks. Please proceed with caution through our drop off area. If you need to enter the office with your child for any reason, please park first and walk your child in. If you arrive after 8:35 am, parents must walk children in to the office and sign them in. These procedures are in place to ensure the safety of all.
PICK UP INFORMATION
Please enter the buildings at 3:15 pm to sign out and pick up your child. If you will be picking your child up every day, please make sure to complete an after school care form and submit it to the office. For occasional pick ups, the office must be notified before 2:15 pm. Elementary - 8477405321/ Primary- 8477405320 Thank you for cooperation.
