Messmer Gardens
High School LEADERS tackle the great unknown!
What is a Community Garden?
LEADERS students will soon begin construction on the MHS Garden zone! It will measure 96 feet x 32 feet! Our garden will have peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, strawberries, lettuce, cilantro, and peas! See the EVENT Details below for opportunities to help us out!
What is "LEADERS?"
The group of people who have chosen to run this garden are part of the MHS LEADERS program. LEADERS is a 21st Century Community Learning Center where students participate in homework help and enrichment activities. Yup! You guessed it - This community garden project is an ENRICHMENT activity! Basically, that means that it's an activity or opportunity that LEADERS students get to participate in that supplements the education they're getting in school. So it's extra hands-on practice to actually USE all that STUFF they're learning about in their classes. Pretty cool, huh?
