KTS Newsletter
Term 4, Week 8, Tuesday 7 December 2021
It certainly is beginning to look a lot like Christmas with the pohutukawa's flowering nice and early - a sure sign of a long, hot summer! I hope you managed to enjoy some time in restaurants or the like over the weekend as I did. So nice to be with friends again wasn’t it.
As we enter the final few days of the school year, we start to focus on 2022. Class placements have now been completed and will be published, in HERO, next Tuesday. Your child’s 2022 class teacher will be in email contact with you with a slideshow to introduce themselves. We are not having students visit their new class this year as only half of our classes are on site on any given day and we do not want to mix bubbles. We take a lot into account when allocating classes – friends that students have identified themselves, a spread of gender, ethnicity and English level, and teacher knowledge of good combinations to ensure maximised learning within the classroom; as a result, we do not make changes to classes at this stage.
In next week’s newsletter we will acknowledge those students who have been awarded prizes and let you know of our staffing organisation for 2022.

Waterslide
As we are missing out on class picnics and trips, we have booked a water slide for Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th December. Classes have rostered times for this experience. Please send your child with a rash shirt/board shorts or similar and a towel on this day. It is of course optional.
Lunch orders
Unfortunately, ezlunch will not be delivering lunches for the rest of the year after this Friday (10th December) due to a lack of demand. The service will be up and running again next year.

PTA Update
As the end of a much-disrupted year approaches, the PTA would like to say a huge thank you to all the families for participating in our school events and for contributing donations, volunteer work and general enthusiasm to make our school the lovely community it is. Looking back, we can be incredibly grateful to have had the Disco, the Bounce Challenge and Magic Show for the kids to enjoy.
We are pleased to report that our fundraising total for the year was $22,495, a significant achievement given the last few months! Thank you everyone for helping us get there. This money is going towards the wonderful garden project that has already begun.
Sadly, Wendy McRae is stepping down from chairing the PTA after several years of hard work and superhuman organisational skills. She has contributed countless hours behind the scenes and we are so grateful for her ability to bring parents together. Huge thanks to you, Wendy, for your tireless commitment to the school. We will certainly miss your leadership.
Looking ahead to next year, we really hope to get more parents involved in the PTA and we always welcome fresh ideas and enthusiasm. We are optimistic that we will be able to return to hosting bigger events in 2022, possibly starting with a school picnic / Colour Run in Term 1. Please keep an eye on next year's newsletter for details of our first meeting.
In the meantime, we hope you have a restful, healthy and safe summer holiday.
