Caruso Connect - September 3rd
#CarusoWay
It has been another full week of school and this long weekend is a great time for all to rest, recharge, and spend some valuable time with loved ones. We hope that everyone is heathy and safe. We love our new Blue Jay of the week section of our Newsletter. If you would like to nominate a staff member for this you may do so HERE!
We would like to share a few reminders. Please ensure that your student brings a water bottle to school with them. As a COVID precaution all drinking fountains have been turned off and only water bottle fillers are available. Also, please send an extra mask to school with your student. Often students need a spare if it become damaged or sweaty following PE. Finally, please help your student to be on time to school! All students arriving past 8:00 AM should stop in the main office for a tardy pass.
Have a GREAT LONGGGGGGGGG weekend!

Wednesday ExSEL
This week students met in their ExSEL groups for the first time!
ExSEL (Executive Functioning + Social-Emotional Learning) is a new addition to our Wednesday early release schedule. This is designated school-wide time each week for students to build relationships with teachers and peers. During this time, students will have the space and opportunity to check in with teachers while focusing on social-emotional learning, executive functioning, relationship building, coping strategies, and self-awareness.

Activities and Sports Update
One of the best things about school is all the clubs and activities that are offered! We are THRILLED to bring back a full slate of options for lots of ways to get involved at Caruso. Please check out our Clubs and Activities Website for more information - when you find a club you're interested in joining, click on the page for more info and reach out to the sponsor!
We encourage every single student to join at least ONE club or activity this year -- and if your student has an idea for a club that currently isn't being offered, reach out to Mrs. Lucci with a proposal and we'll try to get it up and running!

WHAT DO I DO IF MY CHILD WAKES UP SICK? DO OTHER SIBLINGS HAVE TO STAY HOME?
It’s always a tough situation when this happens in the morning! Be sure to read this section in our COVID information hub, especially if you have multiple children enrolled in DPS 109. Our school exclusion guidance comes from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
