6th Grade Shirts Are Here!
These shirts are designed to be worn by our students for all three years of their middle school career, and feature lyrics to their class song "Smile" by Sidewalk Prophets. They are considered dress code appropriate as long as it is not a liturgy dress day.
Better as a Zephyr: Leading down the right track
Congrats to Hailey, Kieran, and Garrett for being this week's Better as a Zephyr: Leading Down the Right Track award recipients. These students are being recognized for displaying integrity and compassion in the classroom!
Their names will be displayed in our Commons space and they receive their choice of a reward for being "caught" living out these core values of our SMCS system!
Guidance and Campus Ministry News
Protecting our Children - lessons to begin soon:
In 2016, the Diocese of Green Bay subscribed to VIRTUS® for lesson plans which are used to provide a consistent Safe Environment foundation for our children. It is the shared responsibility of parents, teachers, and catechists to give our children the awareness and tools they need to overcome anyone who intends to harm them. It is an expectation that all Catholic Schools and Faith Formation programs use the VIRTUS® Lesson plans. (Taken from Green Bay Diocesan resources for safe environment training). You can view those lessons here.
These lessons are in addition to the Family Life/Theology of the Body lessons currently being taught in Religion classes. Mrs. Kalaus will teach the age appropriate Virtus lessons in upcoming weeks for each grade level. Please let her know if you have any questions.
FVTC Summer Camps
This summer, Fox Valley Technical College will offer TECHKNOWLEDGE College (formerly Summer Camp) for middle and high school students. There is a wide variety of hands-on interactive classes. You can find information and registration here.
8th Grade Career Unit
The grade 8 Educational and Career Planning unit focuses on a student’s personal/social growth, academic/career development and looking ahead to their future as they transition to high school and eventually into a career. The unit has an emphasis on a review of the student’s talents, hopes and dreams, abilities, interests, academic performance, MAP test results, learning styles and career assessment results. To help students objectively look at themselves, they will participate in several on-line activities from NAVIANCE, including exploration of career clusters and completing a personality inventory. Mrs. Kalaus will be in eighth grade classes for the next several weeks for instruction and discussion about all these topics.
