Week 1
August 23- August 25
Pacing Guide
This is a pacing guide. Your assignments are grouped by days to help keep you on-track. Each day consists of work that should take approximately one hour; it may take you a little more or a little less than an hour, but if you anticipate that it will take an hour to complete your work for each day, then you should be fine. This equals to about five hours of work a week, which is what you would have if you were in a classroom at school. The difference, however, is that you do not have extra hours for "homework" in an online class as you would in a classroom. The curriculum in the online course is the same or equivalent to the work I give my students in the classroom, so you are getting the same work as if you were in an classroom. The individuals who do well in this course spend approximately five hours per week on their work.
You are able to do as much or as little work as you would like per day (except for the discussion, which is due Wednesday), but please make sure that all of your work completed by midnight on Sunday; at that time, the window will close and you will not be able to access the previous week's work. Most weeks we will have a discussion that you will need to post by that Wednesday so other students will have time to respond. Because this is the first week, all of your assignments this week will be due on Sunday.
Some students find that completing all of their assignments on one day is beneficial, whereas others spread it out throughout the week. You need to do what works best for you. There will be blogs and assignments on PowerSchool, however, that you will be required to post and respond throughout the week, so please do do not put those off until the last minute.
Please call or e-mail me if you have any questions!
