Chromebooks in Each Student's Hands
Bringing each student success no matter their learning style
Why 1:1 Classrooms?
We are excited to announce that at the beginning of this next school year, Elm Street Elementary will be providing each student with a Chromebook, a laptop advice that will connect students in the classroom. Thanks to our incredible PTA, classroom initiatives, and Chromebook advocates, we have enough money to do this.
Mobile Learning is defined as "learning across multiple contexts, through social and content interactions, using personal devices" (http://www.learningandleading-digital.com/learning_leading/20130910#pg40). This teaching style allows students to interact with professionals who study their subjects, other students, and other cultures from anywhere that has internet. Mobile learning has the ability to surpass traditional learning styles and tend to all student needs - it allows for different styles of learning to exist with the click of a button.
Chromebooks are simple computers that allow for a wide range of potential. The apps that come with the Chromebook, the interactive screens, and the ease of access to all of the computer's potential allow for teachers to engage the students in various activities that can be easily continued outside of the classroom or for extended periods of time. Not only are these chrome books beneficial to our traditional students, but they can do incredible things for our special needs population. Here at Elm Street we strive to give our special needs students the same potential to learn as anyone else. By removing the "mechanical impediments" like writing, speaking, and etcetera, we can better engage our students and get rid of the learning barriers they have. Chromebooks can help us accomplish this task (http://atclassroom.blogspot.com/2013/02/chrome.html).
We are thrilled to have this opportunity and we cannot wait to see our students thrive when each one of them has this privilege.
Thank you for your support.
