Crossing GuardsFor our next commendation, we recognize the Boerne ISD Crossing Guards! The Boerne ISD Crossing Guards are often the first and last faces of the school district that our students see. Their devotion to the children is unparalleled as they provide essential safety services in all types of weather conditions. They help the children safely cross some of our busiest streets and always with a warm and caring attitude. They show them how to safely navigate crosswalks and intersections with lessons our students will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Our community is a safer place because of our BISD School Crossing Guards! | SRO DonationsFor our next commendation, we recognize the families who generously donated to the Boerne Police Foundation to sponsor our School Resource Officers.
These generous donations assist in standardizing equipment and the acquisition of specialized equipment across all 12 BISD schools. This includes providing additional tools necessary to expedite response times in the event of an emergency. Boerne ISD would also like to recognize Rey De La Fuente, from the Boerne Police Foundation for his hard work and dedication to organize the fundraiser. In addition, BISD would like to recognize John Henderson of Legacy Farmstead for their fundraising efforts. | Life-SaverOur next commendation honored Boerne Middle School North Teacher Julie Olsen. Julie was a parent volunteer during Curington’s Boerne Outdoor Academy trip, where she saved a person’s life. One morning, an employee at the camp was beginning to prepare breakfast, when the gas stove exploded in the kitchen. The worker immediately was knocked to the floor and his head was nearly engulfed in flames. Thankfully, Julie was in the kitchen at that fateful time and sprang into action, helping put the fire out and protect the worker’s face and body. Luckily, thanks to Julie’s quick instinct, she saved the worker’s life. He is recovering and is doing well today. |
