A Note from Mr. Clayton
Finally, congratulations to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who took the Georgia Milestones! I know there were a few long days of testing, but each of you handled them like champions. We could not be more proud of you for doing your best on every portion of the test. I would like to encourage each of the testing students to do something fun this weekend to celebrate the end of the testing season. You deserve it!
Sincerely,
Robert Clayton
Assistant Principal
p.s. Make-Up Testing will take place on Monday and Tuesday for 5th graders who need to make up any portion of the test.
STEM in the Garden
3rd Graders are getting their hands dirty in the Evansdale garden. They have designed garden plots and planted a variety of vegetables and will continue to take care of the garden for the rest of the school year.

HMS PTSA presents a program on student stress, anxiety, and depression
Parenting is hard work and there is no doubt that the middle school years are particularly challenging. Kids are growing physically and emotionally at their own speed – some quickly, some slowly – each with their own unique circumstances. We want our kids to be prepared for high school, not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well.
Mark your calendars now for Tuesday, April 24th at 6:30pm when the PTSA will host a program for parents that will address stress and anxiety among middle school students (and the sources of stress, including, but not limited to bullying and social media).
Our speaker will be Dr. Noriel Lim, assistant professor at Emory University, who specializes in evidence-based approaches to the treatment of anxiety and depression among children, teens and adults.
Developing skills to cope with stress, anxiety and depression are critical, as there has been a documented rise in all three in recent years among middle and high school students.
