SMCM MAT Alumni Newsletter

Back to school, back to school...
Hi, MAT alums!!
I hope that you all had a fantastic summer, went on incredible vacations, caught up on sleep and yard work, and that you'll return to the classroom feeling rejuvenated, energized, tan, and ready for a super school year!!
As the year moves on, I hope that you keep in mind the ultimate goal of being a teacher- to pass on the gifts of knowledge, independence, confidence, and joy! It's easy to get caught up in the negativity- lack of resources, that *one* kid, helicopter/nonexistent parents, and of course, testing, testing, testing. Some days you may feel overwhelmed or under-appreciated, but the work you do is selfless, necessary, and rewarding in so many ways. It's the stories like this one that go unnoticed (Thank you, Tory Davis!), but that show just how much you love and care for your students.
We here in Educational Studies could not be prouder than we are of all of you, for choosing a profession in education and leaving a legacy through teaching.
Now go and write your lesson plans for the year!!
