WILDCAT NEWS
MARCH 2022

A LETTER FROM OUR ADMINISTRATORS

Hello Wildcat Families!
We'd like to begin this letter by acknowledging the perseverance of our Wildcat students through this unique beginning to 2022. We saw an uptick in COVID cases among students and staff early in the year. Our teachers worked hard to keep their Google Classrooms up-to-date and be available to the students that depend on them, and those students returned to school with the drive and desire necessary to make up missed work and jump back into daily school life.
Post-Presidents' Day, we enter a very long stretch without breaks or long weekends. We encourage students to be determined and diligent for the upcoming weeks between now and Spring Break. Keep your "eyes on the prize" (academic growth and success) with the recognition that there is some respite ahead of you. Please continue to be on time, try your best, and ask for help when you need it. Our school's teachers, teachers' aides, counselors, administrators, and all other school staff are here to support you. You've got this!
In Advisory, as of February 23, students have begun to work on finalizing their class schedules for the coming year. Parents, please engage with your student(s) about the classes they plan to take, how they align with their post-graduate plans and Pathways, and whether they feel they will be adequately challenged in the classes they are choosing. Please feel free to contact your student's counselor if you have questions about the registration process.
We have had many students achieve great things over the past couple of months. A high percentage of students were recognized for Honor Roll, as well as On-a-Roll (GPA improvements). We had students from both Girls' and Boys' Wrestling Teams go to State competition, our Basketball players fought hard in the local playoff games, Cheerleaders went to National competition, and ROTC represented us on the National stage, as well. Our Drama department was frighteningly astounding in their play, Dracula, and three Drama students also competed in the International Thespian Excellence Awards. Ceramics classes teamed-up with our amazing Culinary department to pull off a fundraiser for local charity in their Empty Bowls event, and several of our CTE students placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in their categories at the 2022 SkillsUSA Puget Sound North Regional Competition.
We have so many reasons to look upon our students and the community that supports them with PRIDE-- and we know more excellent academic, athletic, and community-focused events are on the horizon! Thank you all for the parts you play in the lives of our astounding students!
Go Cats,
Principal Nate Salisbury and our OHHS Admin Team
