Principals' Message

Hello Rockledge Families,

It was great having students back in the building this week. Three weeks is a really long time to go without kid voices and laughter in learning. We had a great week! Grade level Spelling Bee's happened this week, so families be on the look out for communications about next steps.

We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to ALL students for sharing meaningful messages this week in celebration of Virginia's Principal Appreciation Week. Mrs. Everett and Mrs. Steptoe-Coleman continue to be honored and humbled to serve the Rockledge Community.

Your Principal & Assistant Principal,

Mrs. Steptoe-Coleman

Mrs. Everett

Code Orange Reminders

As we continue to navigate this snowy winter, here is a reminder of how a Code Orange Day would function.

When PWCS calls a Code Orange, schools are closed for in-person learning. It is an asynchronous learning day for students and remote work for non-essential employees. Students are encouraged work remotely via Canvas. Please see our website for more information.

Rockledge Booster Thon Coming Soon

In just 4 weeks, we’ll kick off our Rockledge Eagles Fun Run on 2/14! Our goal is to raise $7,500 for PTA projects that support school and students and to strengthen our school community. This year more than ever, we need additional funds to provide an excellent educational experience for all of our students. We completely understand if your family is not in a position to financially support the school right now. You can still be involved by simply SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and extended family online at Sharing IS supporting! All students will participate in the Rockledge Eagles Fun Run, regardless of financial participation. We will also be following our school safety guidelines to ensure a safe and fun experience for everyone.

We appreciate your support more than you know. More details to come as we get closer to kickoff!

Key dates to remember:

  • Fundraiser Kickoff - 2/14

  • Event Day - 2/23

January Service Project: Empower House Donations

Rockledge's Ladies Who Empower club is hosting our community service project for January. Over the next two weeks we will be collecting items for the Empower House of Virginia. The items we gather will support families that have been victim of domestic violence.

See below for items we are looking to collect. Thanks in advance for your support of this project.

Big picture

Families' Vision for Learning: Still Time to Provide Input

In February we will be working with the Family Advisory Council to begin looking over the feedback of students, families, and staff about their hopes and dreams for Rockledge. The goal of this conversation will be to begin to craft a revised Vision and Mission for Rockledge.

There is still time to provide your input, click below or scan the QR code and share your hopes and dreams for your child's education.

Click HERE to share your vision.

Lost and Found

We have many items in our lost and found, including many coats. If your child has lost an item, please encourage them to stop by the Lost and Found and look for the item. Any items not claimed by the end of January will be marked for donation.

Please make sure to label all personal items as we continue into the winter season.

PTA Updates

School Store Volunteers Needed

The Rockledge School Store is in need of parent volunteers! The store has been a huge hit with the students this year, and the funds will help pay for field trips and other student activities. The store is currently on Tuesdays and Fridays, right before school starts, around 8:55am. Volunteers would need to be available from about 8:30-9:30am on Tuesdays and/or Fridays.

This is a fun way to get involved in our school community!

If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions, please email

Instructional Updates

Teacher Conferences, January 27th

Families if you want to schedule a conference with your child's teacher for the afternoon of January 27th, please send an email to your teacher. These conferences are optional and a chance to connect with the teacher to support the home-school connection in learning.

Health & Safety Updates

As a reminder, please make sure to keep your children at home when sick. We have all seen the numbers with this new Covid variant and we want to do everything we can to keep everyone healthy. Here is the home screening information provided by PWCS: pwcshomescreening .
