Happy Birthday to all the OTTBs!

Every Thoroughbred horse in the Northern Hemisphere has the same birthday. Even though their exact birthday will be on their papers, no matter what month a Thoroughbred is born, its birthday falls on January 1. This is to keep track of Thoroughbred horses' bloodlines and for racing purposes. Thoroughbred races aren't open to horses until age 2, and some races are open to only a certain age. For example, the Kentucky Derby, is only for 3-year-olds.

Adopted Horse of the Month - Rocky

Rocky was a strong trotter at Pompano Racetrack and was lucky enough to find his forever home with Matt. He has a huge personality and loves to ride the trails with his buddies. We are so blessed that Matt has given Rocky the home he was looking for.

Rescue of the Month - King

King is a 5 year old OTTB that was born with a bad stifle and never made it to the track. He is a gentleman and although he can't be ridden he still trots and gallops around the fields like the King he is. Royally bred, now he can be your pride and joy as the world's most regal pet. His ground manners are impeccable. Please consider adopting or sponsoring King.

California Chrome

After the inaugural Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park on January 28, 2017, California Chrome may retire as the world's richest horse. He has had an amazing career and we will miss him but we hope to get to cheer him first over the finish line one last time.

Peaceful Ridge Rescue began in 2004 as a one-horse rescue by our founder and president Victor Cutino, and his wife Ann. Each ensuing year resulted in Victor being called upon to rescue a greater number of abused and abandoned horses. Today, municipal authorities and the South Florida community rely on Victor and his staff of dedicated volunteers to provide rescue, rehabilitation and adoption services to all equines in need. With a “mission to find a home for every horse” adoption is the ultimate goal and Peaceful Ridge Rescue has found new homes for over 100 horses during the last few years.
