A Communication Tool for the Seven Hills Staff
Spring Leadership Night is This Week!
Also, make sure that families know what habit you are connecting to. Don't assume everyone knows the habits. There should be some component of explaining what the habit is and how it can be applied to the game, to school, to home, etc. Remember, the purpose of the event is to help families understand the Habits, provide an opportunity for students to practice the habit, promote family engagement, and build a sense of community.
Make sure you are advertising the event...Super Bowl Rings and a badge for pride posters will be awarded to the class in each grade level with the highest attendance! Hat passes will be given to students for completing the rotations. FREE pizza dinner!
Staff may wear jeans and maroon adventure shirt OR jeans and a football jersey on Tuesday.
Woolley's Frozen Custard Prices:
- cup or cake cone: $2.50
- waffle cone: $3.00
- waffle cup: $2.50
- toppings: $0.50 each
GREATNESS!
NOTE: This activity is not going away! We will reflect on it in PLCs next week! :)
Take note that identifying areas that are “Ok” is done in an effort to help us all get better…this is absolutely not an opportunity for pettiness or to point fingers.

#7HillsLEADS...A Challenge:
What story will you tell this week? Will you share how you are IGNITING student learning? Will you share how you are encouraging students to INVESTIGATE? Will you share how you are INVITING connections? So many GREAT things happening in our classrooms! We have to tell our story or someone else will!
Habit Focus of the Week: Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Habit Huddle Connection:
Habit 4 Connection:
From Franklin Covey:
"Most of us learn to base our self-worth on comparisons and competition. We think about succeeding in terms of someone else failing--that is, if I win, you lose; or if you win, I lose. Life becomes a zero-sum game. There is only so much pie to go around, and if you get a big piece, there is less for me; it's not fair, and I'm going to make sure you don't get anymore. We all play the game, but how much fun is it really?
Win-win sees life as a cooperative arena, not a competitive one. Win-win is a frame of mind and heart that constantly seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions. Win-win means agreements or solutions are mutually beneficial and satisfying. We both get to eat the pie, and it tastes pretty darn good!
A person or organization that approaches conflicts with a win-win attitude possesses three vital character traits:
- Integrity: sticking with your true feelings, values, and commitments
- Maturity: expressing your ideas and feelings with courage and consideration for the ideas and feelings of others
- Abundance Mentality: believing there is plenty for everyone
Many people think in terms of either/or: either you're nice or you're tough. Win-win requires that you be both. It is a balancing act between courage and consideration.
To go for win-win, you not only have to be empathic, but you also have to be confident. You not only have to be considerate and sensitive, you also have to be brave. To do that--to achieve that balance between courage and consideration--is the essence of real maturity and is fundamental to win-win.
Campus and District Announcements and Updates:
Habit Huddle: teachers and staff without homeroom classes, please make sure you are going to your assigned classrooms for Habit Huddle every day.
Recess Monitoring: Staff on duty at recess MUST actively monitor all areas of the playground. One staff member needs to be monitoring the field and another needs to be monitoring the playground and blacktop. The best places to stand are down by the backstop, between the chickens and the backstop, and at the top of the hill on the backside of the playground. If you have three staff members, the third staff member can stand on the blacktop side of the playground. Thank you for your active monitoring to ensure student safety.
Reminder to let Lighthouse Team know what service project your grade level has chosen. https://goo.gl/forms/Q9hfGZfBhwg4VKfM2
