The 7A Lady Viking Volleyballers defeated Jarrell last monday night in 2 tightly contested sets 25-20; 25-23. The girls had to overcome some very tough serving from the Lady Cougars as they were forced into passing their bullet serves all night long. Displaying perseverance, mental toughness, and some old-fashioned grit the ladies fought through some of the service runs from the Lady Cougars and continued to build their own confidence by playing some very good volleyball, improving upon their overall offensive and defensive abilities. Strong service games were provided by Maddie Kassell, Amelia Robinson, and Mikayla Vasquez. Amelia Robinson led the offense with 5 kills, Melanie Sansom and Mikayla Vasquez added 1 kill each. Outstanding defensive efforts were had by all; Mikayla Vasquez, Chloe Patton, Lana Spedale, Canon Yetley, Natalie Kercheville, Maddie Kassell all having great passing games. Hannah Simmons, Sydney Heibert, Amelia Robinson, and Melanie Sansom all got their hands on the ball at the net as they continue to improve with their blocking efforts. The girls are playing hard and improving every match. The win improved their district record to 4 - 0 and their overall record to 7-0. They've got a tough match on Monday night @ Blanco which is always a tough place to play. I know the girls are gonna give it all they've got as they've risen to every challenge thus far throughout the 1st half of their season.
