Help Us Reduce the Number of Students Arriving Late to School
Each morning we have an average of 50 students arriving after 8:35am! When students arrive late, they may miss morning breakfast, important announcements, time to prepare for their day, and time to build relationships with their teachers and classmates. It’s hard for students to start each day trying to catch up on what they’ve missed. Here’s what you can do
FALL PICTURE DAY
Fall picture day is right around the corner on Monday October 17th. Norwood Elementary will be sending home order forms as they become available in your student’s take home folder. Pictures can be ordered online as well. All students will have their picture taken regardless of purchase. If there are any questions regarding order forms, please reach out to the front office at 443-809-7055.
When to keep your child at home
In accordance with CDC guidelines and current BCPS policy, children should stay home if they display any visible symptoms of illness including severe congestion or runny nose. In order for your child to return to school they need to be completely symptom free for at least 24 hours without any medication. If you have any questions or doubts please feel free to reach out to Nurse Debbie at 443-809-6029.
Reminders from the school nurse
Along with a change of clothes for colder weather, please make sure your child has a warm jacket or hoodie to keep in their locker. We have some winter hats, gloves and coats at school. If your student is in need of any of those items, please call the nurse at 443-809-6029 or send a note to school with your student. We gladly take donations of any clothing or shoes your child has outgrown.
If your student is new to Baltimore County schools, please remember to bring in a copy of their latest physical from the doctor and alert the nurse of any health concerns. A physical is required by Maryland State law. If you need help getting a doctor, please call the school nurse at 443-809-6029.
Absentee Note
When your child is returning from an absence, we ask that you, please, send a note
from a parent, guardian, or doctor stating the date and the reason for the absence. We ask parents to schedule medical appointments after
school when possible. Children should not miss school unless absolutely necessary. We
want our students to be successful learners and it is very important to be in school to achieve
their full learning potential. Children who arrive to school after 8:35 need to go to the office
to receive a tardy slip. Students who have a note from a court, doctor, or dentist will receive
an excused tardy, if they bring the note to the office. Again, please, try and schedule
appointments before and after school.
