Pre-K Specials
NFS Curriculum Update :: May & June, 2015
LIBRARY
PreK will visit the library each week for story time and to select books. We will read cumulative and predictive stories including The Giant Jam Sandwich, Chicken Little, and Martha Speaks.
Music
I can’t believe it is already May! I have had such a wonderful time working with this PreK class. We have finished our letter songs, played instruments, danced, read stories, learned about instrument families, played games and had fun. We will continue this throughout the end of the year. Thank you for sharing your child with me this year!
P.E.
The first part of May will focus mainly on Field Day activities that the students will be participating in at the big event. Students will be familiar with the activities prior to Field Day so they will be able to comfortably perform the required tasks (they will have an older buddy with them during the event). Following Field Day and weather permitting, PE will go outside on the fields playing outdoor games and activities. In the final weeks of the school year the students will have the opportunity to choose a few of their favorite games and activities that were played during the school year and repeat these activities one final time before the end of school.
SPANISH
Spring is here! Pre-K will end this school year by learning the vocabulary associated with the flora and fauna of the natural world. We will talk about the seasons, and categorize previously learned vocabulary (clothes, colors, holidays, months, weather expressions, etc.) using the four seasons as our guide. We will also learn two traditional Spanish songs associated with springtime. As usual we will continue to practice responding to and asking basic conversational questions in Spanish.
