Here's A Little History On Stokes County
Stokes county is located in the Piedmont region of the state. The counties that border Stokes are: Patrick, Henry, Rockingham, Forsyth, and Surry. Stokes County was founded in 1789 and named for John Stokes. Danbury was founded in 1851 as the county seat of Stokes.
What To Know About Stokes County Governement
The Board's major responsibilities are issuing bonds, managing county parks, collecting and disposing of trash, collecting property and sales tax, administering courts and jails. and managing pensions for county employees. The Stokes County Board of Commissioners is composed of five members who are elected at large for four years. The current County Manager is Rick Morris.
