Monthly Events Of Wildcats: September 2019

Big picture

Principals Message

As you can see from scanning this newsletter, we have A LOT of exciting events occurring on our campus through out the month of September! We are in full swing for the 19-20 school year. And since we are almost half way through the 1st quarter, I want you to know that if you have questions about your students progress, behavior, and/or grades, please know that your first step should be contacting your studnets teachers as they will be able to answer your questions and address your concerns. If you are looking for additional support, I encourage you to contact the school counselor.

Over the past couple of years, I have developed a motto, "Respect yourself and others, through your words and actions." This simple yet complex statement is a lens I use with students and staff interactions. I feel that this one statement can apply to a multitude of situations and people. My hope is that every member of the Wildcat community models these types of interactions.

Looking to be more involved?

I am seeking additional parents and community members to be apart of the TEWMS School Advisory Council (SAC). The SAC is a school-based group intended to represent the school, the community, and those persons closest to the students. The group shares responsibility for guiding the school toward continuous improvement. We meet once a quarter for about an hour during to review progress of our goals in the Student Success Plan. The SAC meetings are scheduled at 9am on the following dates: 9/26, 12/5, 2/20 & 4/30. Please contact Mrs. Martin if you are interested in being a member of this council.

Progress Reports & Report Cards

Parents will access student progress reports and report cards through their MyStudent account. I highly recommend that you set up an account NOW so that you have full access to these reports as well as your students attendance, grades, test scores and class assignments. Register for a "Parent MyStudent" account. Here is a step-by-step video to assist you with this process. Please communicate with your child's teachers when you have a question, are looking for help, or have a concern about an assignment or their grades.

Wildcat Binders

Since the beginning of the school year, we have been working with students on getting themselves organized with their academic responsibilities. This is being done through their Wildcat Binders as we are asking students to write down their assignments, homework and/or assessment dates. In addition, I'm seeing students use their Wildcat binder as a in/out location for assignments. There is an expectation that students have their Wildcat Binder with them every day as it also serves as their pass system during study hall. We ask all families to please reinforce this essential skill, by looking at the Wildcat binders each week. Please know that if we send home school wide information to families, we will ask students to put the communication in their Wildcat binders.

2019 FSA Scores

We have 2019 FSA scores available upon parent request. If you would like the FSA score report(s) for your student(s), please contact Ms. Hoffman at 813-794-0200 so that she made gather those documents for you.

The kick-off event will occur on September 10th. More information to come.

Student Clubs

Students will be signing up for the club the week of Sept 9th. Club days require the school to run on an activity bell schedule and occur on the third Wednesday of the month (see calendar on website). In addition, a list of our clubs is posted on our school web site. Our first club day is Thursday September 26th. Club days are always a fun day for all, as it allows students to engage in a common interest with peers they may not interact with on a daily basis. We continue to look for additional volunteers to share their interests and hobbies with our students, if you interested, please contact Mrs. Ojeda
