FAIR LAWN PUBLIC SCHOOLS announce
Kindergarten Registration & Enrollment/ Orientation Process for 2018-2019
Dear Parents/Guardians:
We are excited to announce that Kindergarten registration for the 2018-2019 school year will begin January 8th. Kindergarten is an exciting and important year for students and their parents. We are anxious to meet your child and welcome him/her to school.
The registration process, which consists of two steps, is as follows:
Step 1: Registration/Residency Verification through the Community School
The initial step of the process requires you to go online to www.fairlawnschools.org/openreg and pre-register.
Please follow the directions @ www.fairlawnschools.org/registration to determine what additional forms and documents are required during registration.
Registration takes place at the Community School located at the corner of Burbank Street and Norma Avenue (behind Fair Lawn High School) and is by appointment only.
- Appointments are Monday-Thursday (8:45am-11:45am &
1:45pm-3:45pm) during your neighborhood school’s assigned week (see below).
- All students subject to the district’s “soft border” policy who register prior to
March 30th will be notified of the child’s school placement by the end of May.
- Board of Education Policy 5120 can be viewed on the district website @ www.fairlwanschools.org or <click here>.
- Appointments should take no longer than 15 minutes provided all requested documents are presented and completed.
Please note missed appointments will have to be rescheduled.

You will be receiving a letter from the school principal by mid-May indicating which school your child has been assigned. This letter will also note the time of you and your child’s Kindergarten orientation on June 8th (8:30am – 3:30pm). During the school orientation, the kindergarten teacher will work briefly with your child while you meet with the building principal.
If you have a neighbor who has an eligible Kindergarten-aged child, please pass this important information along to them.
Please turn in your child’s medical documents to their school by June 1st (see below).
Appointments for all other grades will begin April 23, 2018.
