Welcome to the October 2021 issue of the Spartan Scoop!

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! For those of you who are new to CHS and/or The Spartan Scoop, or need a friendly refresher, this monthly newsletter will contain information in the following areas, but not limited to: School Counseling programming and events, grade level specific info, student specific info, scholarships, college info, career info, military info, social emotional health info and more! It is important that both students and their parents/guardians browse the information in these newsletters.

All CHS Students Can Receive a FREE Laptop! Opt-In now via ParentVue

All CCSD High School students can opt-in to be issued a county laptop. There is no charge for this service. Students will be required to return laptops upon graduation or withdrawing from Cobb County School District. There is no deadline to opt-in!


All parents/families need to do is Opt-In on ParentVue. Check out this site for updated information. Student Laptop Program (cobbk12.org)

ASVAB--Nov 4th

Attention 10-12th Graders:
We will be administering the ASVAB on Thursday, Nov 4th during the school day.

While the ASVAB is used for entrance into a military career, it is a WONDERFUL Career Exploration test. If you are uncertain about a future career, sign up here to take the ASVAB. *Students are responsible for any classwork missed while taking the exam.

The FAFSA Application opened on Oct 1st!

Seniors & Families:
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our FAFSA Information Session on the 7th of October. Unfortunately, due to regulations with the Georgia Student Finance Commission, we were unable to record the session and unable to share the powerpoint presentation. Are you applying to any of these schools? If so, apply during the indicated times and your application is FREE!


Georgia College: Oct 18-22

Login to Common Application site

  1. Click "My Colleges" tab and click on "Georgia College"
  2. Go to College information tab and select "Questions" section below Application
  3. Find question: "Do you intend to use one of these school-specific fee waivers" and select "I received a special fee waiver through text or email"
  4. Enter Apply2College code


University of Mississippi "Ole Miss" (10/15 - 10/17) CST

Any students who apply for Fall 2022 Freshman Admission via our institutional application and use the code FREEAPP21 will have the $60 non-resident application fee waived.

Juniors!! Class of 2023

Junior Advisement Conferences have begun!

Juniors: Prior to your conference, you need to complete the Junior Advisement Survey in Naviance. Go to "About Me", Surveys, Surveys not started, Junior Advisement Survey. This will help guide the conversation with you and your counselor about your plans and/or troubles creating a plan after high school graduation.


After your Junior Advisement conference, you will have 3 action items to complete. Check them out HERE.

Sophomores!! Class of 2024

Sophomore Presentation

Don't worry Sophomores, we have not forgotten about you. Counselors will be meeting with students currently taking a 10th grade English Literature class during the last week of October. We will discuss Dual Enrollment, Transcripts, Grad Requirements, HOPE Scholarship requirements and more! Students will come with their ELA class. *No worries, we will do it again next semester for students who do not have an ELA class next semester.*
