We are so fortunate to have two counselors here at Ventana Vista. Mrs. Harvey is full-time and Mrs. Flores is part time. Both of our counselors teach lessons in classrooms on Wednesdays. Mrs. Harvey was working with one of our second grade classes teaching a lesson on what it means to be a good friend.

The lost and found is filling up fast. Please tell your student to check the lost and found if they are missing any items. Feel free to check our “Lost and Found’ if you are at Ventana Vista.

One of our 1st grade classrooms was working on their phonics skills and had been sitting awhile so they had a quick brain break. Here you see them skiing for their brain break.

Then they got right back to work in literacy class.

Mr. MC is our robotics instructor and the students are always so engaged in his robotics class. They use critical thinking and problem solving to get their robots to do what the students are programming the robots to do. Mr. MC does a great job of modeling programming examples and guiding students through the process of programming the robot and making corrections is they are programmed incorrectly, this helps students to think and understand how to program the robots.

During the past two school years, CFSD’s K-12 social studies revision team has been learning about the state’s History and Social Science Standards and creating the curriculum performance scales, which will guide the content for instruction. The standards are being implemented over three years. This school year, only Grade 3: Arizona Studies, World History, AP World History Modern (grade 9), Economics (grade 12), and AP Microeconomics are being implemented.

The standards for grades K-2, 4-5, 6-8 and high school courses United States History (grade 10) and United States Government (grade 12) are under consideration for implementation in 2023-2024. As part of the process, the revision team reviews and proposes texts/resources for adoption that are recommended to the governing board prior to implementation. The revision team considers traditional publisher resources, online resources/programs, and open source curriculum resources. Ventana Vista is partnering again this year with More than a Bed. More than a Bed supports adoptive, foster and kinship families so that they will have easily accessible everyday essentials. While many children receive lots of gifts during the holidays, others need things like coats, warm clothes, and shoes. Drop off new and gently used items to the front office anytime between now-December 16 - items listed on the flyer below are most needed. Let’s join together to bless these Tucson families during this holiday season!

Mileage Club is this Thursday and we want YOU to join us! Our students have run over 800 miles so far and we are trying to reach 1000 miles this week by running, walking, or skipping.

Kindergarten: 11:00-11:35

4th,5th and Alexander and Lopez’s Classes 12:15-12:35

1st, 2nd and Clark and Tobin’s Classes 12:35-12:55

Volunteers will assist with set up, take down, scanning, handing out tokens, handing out name tags, and cheerleading. Parents and younger siblings are welcome to run too if that's something you enjoy.

Are you interested in helping with the Silent Auction for February 2023? We would love more volunteers to help us gather auction items and organize a fun silent auction event during the Family Sweetheart Dance next February.
