Staff Work in IB
Since our first IB PD in the Media Center, which covered your individual subject area criterion strands, there has been a great response/ shift in mindset for many of you. I wanted to take the time to highlight what is happening:
- More teachers are making the choice to use the criterion strands (the “we can ask” sheets) in planning a lesson.
- Some teachers have created formative assessment rubrics for one criterion strand. They’re just practicing asking and providing feedback on that particular strand. Great idea!
- Many teachers have said, “I’m just going to try asking my students and see what happens.” This is a great way to start!
- PLCs have decided to specifically look at each criterion stand and discuss the meaning, and how students might respond
- Building wide, teachers are using criterion strands as their SLO.
- Teachers are starting to ask tough questions about how they can incorporate the criterion strands into their current curriculum. They’re steadfast in making it happen.
Case and point: We’re moving forward in a positive direction. It’s nice to see so many people taking risks, asking questions, and trying something with the reality it might fail during the first attempt.
No one gets up in the morning and thinks, “I can’t wait to change everything I’m doing.” Some of you are starting to realize that using the strands doesn’t require you to do this.

Saturday School Referral to MTSS Team
- October 27th
- November 3rd
- November 17th
- December 1st
- December 15th
If you would like to refer a student to Saturday School, please make sure they are on your "At Risk List" and your notes include "needs homework support". The MTSS team will review the referral list and select the "lucky winners". The factors that we may consider are:
- Tier 1 Implementation
- 1 to XX ratio of KGM to kids
- Supports currently being offered/utilized
- Reason for student failure
