QBS Learning Centre
Week beginning 3rd December
Storytelling and virtual author visits
To add to that we also had a virtual author talk from Michelle Paver, author of the Chronicles of Darkness. ( A must read for all Year 5's and up) Children were invited to come along and watch a videoed author talk. Lots of children came and spent their lunchtime in the LC and were very interested in what Michelle had to say about the craft of writing, her new book, Gods and Warriors, and the Bronze Age. Our next video author visit will be with Jeff Kinney on Friday and I due to his popularity we think it might be standing room only!
The Third Wheel
Love is in the air—but what does that mean for Greg Heffley? A Valentine’s Day dance at Greg’s middle school has turned his world upside down. As Greg scrambles to find a date, he’s worried he’ll be left out in the cold on the big night. His best friend, Rowley, doesn’t have any prospects either, but that’s a small consolation. Yes The Third Wheel is now out. We have several copies in the Learning Centre so pop in and see us to add your name to the wait list.
Brotherband Chronciles
If you liked Rangers Apprentice you will love The Brotherband Chronicles. The Outcasts is the first in the series and a very exciting adventure story. Find out more at http://www.brotherbandchronicles.com/
Secret Santa!
Our very own Secret Santa will be calling at the QBS LC very soon. He is offering a hidden book to every child to take home over the holiday. The book will be wrapped and should be unwrapped once your child gets home. It can then be shared. We are doing this to encourage our students to try new materials and to try something out of their comfort zone. The books are then returned after the holidays. Happy reading.
