What is Marijuana?
Marijuana is a green and brown mix of dried leaves, seeds, and stems of the cannabis sativa plant.
How is marijuana administered?
People smoke marijuana or bake it in "edibles" like cookies or brownies.
What are the physical effects of Marijuana?
-THC acts on specific targets in the brain called cannabinoid receptors.
-Humans have similar brain chemicals to THC in the neural communication center.
-It over activates parts of the brain that contain the highest number of receptors.
-Increases heartbeat.
How is Marijuana used medically?
-Medical marijuana refers to using the whole unprocessed marijuana plant or its basic extracts to treat a disease or symptom.
-Used medically in some states.
-THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, is approved to relieve nausea caused by cancer chemotherapy.-Marijuana decreases the effects of other medications or drugs.
What are the psychological effects of Marijuana?
-Poor coordination of movements
-Lowered reaction time
-Tiredness
-Altered sense of time
-Impaired memory
-Difficulty thinking and problem solving
