District Masking Protocols
In preparation for the start of school, the Mead School District has developed a robust reopening plan with clear protocols to help keep students and staff safe.
Reopening protocols (linked here) are organized around several key safety themes...
Face Coverings
Physical Distancing
Hygiene
School Entry
Non-Instructional Times
Quarantine
Other Health & Safety Areas.
Thanks for taking the time to familiarize yourself with these safety protocols. We need everyone to take responsibility and help keep staff and students safe. We are all part of the same team.
Daily Arrival—Welcome to Evergreen!
For children walking to school, arriving by family vehicle or by bus, our Evergreen students should arrive and walk around the back of the building near the flag pole and bus loop. This is no different than any other year.
Avoiding play structures for now, students will proceed to breakfast distribution at the double doors of the cafeteria on the east side of the building, if they choose. After receiving a breakfast, children will gather at their external classroom door—with 6 feet distance. While waiting in line to enter, kids will stand on the socially distanced blacktop dots. Look for teacher names on classroom doors as well.
Those not receiving breakfast will proceed directly to their external classroom door.
Those few classrooms without doors to the outside will line up at the double doors at the end of our south hall.
At the 9:10 bell, children will enter, assuming parents have attested to their child's health the evening before.
Those children without a health attestation will not enter but move with the support of a paraeducator to a screening station at the east hall doors. After this screening, children will proceed to class. Those that show symptoms of illness will proceed to the health room and/or auxiliary symptom's room.
Once children are in class with their health attestation, they will wash hands, eat breakfast, and ready for the day.
Daily Dismissal
Again, our arrival procedures and dismissal procedures will rely heavily on face coverings and social distancing for safety. Please partner with us in reminding your children.
At the afternoon bell, children will line up in classrooms socially distanced. With support from teachers, children will methodically exit their classroom doors and proceed to the back blacktop, the bus loop, and the flagpole to meet their masked and socially distanced parents, caregivers, and their buses.
If procedures need to be amended for safety, they will be adjusted.
Play Structures Off Limits
If and when these mandates are relaxed or lifted, we will open up our brand new play spaces.
Recess will be a part of our day, of course, but in a more organized fashion on our fields.
Breakfast For All
Student Chromebook Distribution for Online/Remote Students
Evergreen's pick-up will be at Mead High School on Thursday, September 10.
Families will be contacted early this week with more information on assigned time slots and additional details.
After picking up computers, remote kids can drop by Evergreen for a bag of district-provided school supplies.
Plans for Kindergarten—Day 1
As building principal, I know our Kindergarten teachers are working hard (COVID or not) to make the start of this school year a special one.
Remember, attest to you student's health before coming to school.
As parents and kids gather in the open grassy space near the Kindergarten doors that Thursday morning, near the portables and by our new play equipment, please remember to wear masks and socially distance.
Before the bell rings, get those last pictures taken.
Once the bell rings, plan to say those good-byes, good lucks, and last kisses outdoors. Kindergarten teachers will line their students up and enter the building for that first day.
Parents will not enter the building with their new Kindies.
Visitors and Volunteers
- Wear face coverings when on the Evergreen campus.
- Practice social distancing.
- Check in at the office vestibule before entering the building.
- Please do not pick up children from school before 3:20.
