TRAVEL QUARANTINE REQUIREMENT
As we have stated since August, we are requiring students to self-quarantine for 14 days after visiting states that have a 15% or more COVID-19 positivity rate.
As of March 10, Ohio no longer publishes the list or map of travel advisory states. The following links may be of help to you in determining whether your travel plans involve a state that has a 15% or more COVID-19 positivity rate:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-during-covid19.html
https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#testing_positivity7day
Please also see the COVID-19 Travel Advisory FAQs below.
This is an extra precaution and we know this could impact travel plans. If your children are learning in-person, we are asking you to respect this decision and plan accordingly. Students who are required to quarantine after traveling to a state (or country) with a 15% or higher COVID-19 positivity rate will be required to distance learn for the 14 days.
COVID-19 DASHBOARD
We have added a COVID-19 Dashboard to our school website to report up-to-the-minute positive case data for students and staff members. Click here for our COVID-19 Dashboard.

STAFFING CHANGES FOR NEXT YEAR
As we announced last week, Mrs. Alexander will return as Assistant Principal in the fall in a part-time capacity, and Mrs. Rauber will be our new Director of Student and Staff Services, picking up some of the administrative load in terms of special education services and other duties. In addition, we have a few staff members who will be leaving us. Our long-time school nurse, Mrs. Hammersmith, has announced her retirement at the end of this school year, and our Playground Supervisor, Mrs. Pszonowsky, will be moving to Texas this summer with her family. We are currently in the process of hiring, and look forward to sharing more with you as these details are set.
PARENT ENTRY TO BUILDING STILL RESTRICTED
Parents, please remember that entry to the building is still restricted as we continue to follow our COVID-19 protocols. If you need to drop something off or pick something up, please use the bins near the door by the Jesus statue. Your cooperation is appreciated!
LOCKDOWN DRILL NEXT MONDAY, MAY 24
We will be conducting safety drills, including a fire drill, tornado drill, and lockdown drill, next Monday, May 24 at 9:30 am. Because we are doing a series of drills, there will be no access to the building for approximately 15-20 minutes during this time. Please plan accordingly if your child needs to leave or return to school for an appointment and time your pick-up / drop-off before or after the drill. Thank you!
LIBRARY WRAPPING UP OVERDUE ITEMS AND FINES
Students with overdue items or outstanding fines were notified last week. The library is now closed for checking out books, so all books, fines, and fees for lost books are due by Friday, May 21. Students were charged fines this year only if they kept their books for several weeks. Your cooperation in helping our library wrap up operations for the school year is greatly appreciated.
RECYCLED UNIFORMS EXCHANGE DAY JUNE 3
Our Recycled Uniforms program will host its annual exchange day on June 3 from 7:30 am to Noon in the Spiritual Center Lower Level. You may turn in gently used uniforms at this time, or pick up items your child will need for next school year. You do not need to donate an item to receive one. Recycled Uniforms will also be available at Back-to-School Night in August, but for the greatest selection of items and sizes, you may want to stop by the event on June 3. Questions? Please contact Jen Warmus at jenwarmus@gmail.com or Ronda Powers at rondapowers916@gmail.com.

GIRL SCOUT RECYCLING PROJECT TO BENEFIT OUR SCHOOL - YOU CAN HELP!
8th grade Girl Scout Troop 91116 is collecting 250 pounds of plastic bottle caps as a part of their Silver Award project. The caps will be recycled into a bench to be given to the school. Each classroom will collect bottle caps from now until the end of the school year. The classroom in each grade who collects the most pounds of caps will be treated to a class dress down pass (or popsicle party for kindergartners). Families are encouraged to send clean bottle caps collected from home. Please click below for a flyer with information about caps that can be collected. Thank you for your support!
CYO SPORTS PICTURE COORDINATOR NEEDED
We are seeking a St. Hilary parent to coordinate the CYO Sports pictures that are taken for the St. Hilary yearbook. This person would work with Lifetouch, the Athletic Director, and the St. Hilary Facilities Scheduler to have pictures taken in the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons. It would be best if we could find someone now to shadow for the Spring season. If interested, please contact Marlinda Bonus at pab53170@aol.com.
Growing Together in Faith
INVITATION TO RETURN TO MASS
The Diocese of Cleveland has created a series of videos to welcome families back to Mass. You can view the first of these videos here.
SCHOOL ROSARY MAY 18
We will have a school Rosary service on May 18 at 2:00 pm. The Rosary will be live streamed and available to view at http://sthilarychurch.org/live/.
NEXT SCHOOL MASS MAY 28
Our next school Mass will be May 28 at 9:30 a.m. This school Mass will be planned by grade 8, and will be live streamed and available to view at http://sthilarychurch.org/live/. This is our 8th grade farewell Mass.
**PLEASE NOTE: Our live page has been updated. School Masses are available for viewing on the Watch Live Mass page. You will simply see a window on the page - not a link. Other events will still be viewed live by clicking a link as you have in the past.
This year’s liturgy schedule can be found in the Forms and Documents section under the Red Folder on the school website. Masses are also posted on the school Google calendar, with the grade level planning the Mass listed. Our final school Mass for the year will be June 3 planned by grade 4 (Final Mass).
We will continue to celebrate Mass together each week and on holy days. Each grade level (1-8) will plan several Masses as usual, but only the grade level planning the Mass will attend in person. Parents and grandparents of participants may attend but must sit in the back of the Church away from students. Masses will be live streamed and available for all to watch, and students not attending Mass in person will watch live streamed Mass from their classrooms. Eucharistic ministers will come to the classrooms to distribute Holy Communion. We will handle other religious services and events in a similar way.
SCHOOL YEAR THEME PRAYER AND SONG

SUMMER SOLUTIONS BOOKS AVAILABLE FOR ORDERING
Summer Solutions books for 2021 are now available for ordering. Click the flyer below for details. Because the past year has been so difficult, we do not want students to feel pressured to complete work this summer. Therefore, no dress down passes or other incentives will be offered for students who complete the workbooks, summer reading, or other work. Our hope is that, for the most part, children will be children and take advantage of the time to get outdoors and play this summer. Families interested in the Summer Solutions books may complete them at their own option.
SUMMER LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL JUNE 3 - LUNCH AND DISMISSAL AS USUAL, NO PM LATCHKEY
It has come to our attention that there is some confusion surrounding our last day of school for the 2020-2021 school year. Our last day of school will be, and always has been, Thursday, June 3. This has been listed on our calendar since it was published last March. June 3 will be a full day of school, with students dismissed at the usual time, not dismissed early. All students need to have transportation arrangements at dismissal, as afternoon latchkey will not be available. Skyway is providing our hot lunch meal on this day, and those who did not order lunch will need to bring a lunch from home. To recap:
LAST DAY FOR STUDENTS
THURSDAY, JUNE 3, 2021
FULL SCHOOL DAY - REGULAR DISMISSAL
STUDENTS EAT LUNCH AT SCHOOL
NO AFTERNOON LATCHKEY
If you have received or heard any information other than this, it is incorrect. Please disregard it.
SIXTH GRADERS' VACCINE RECORD DUE TO CLINIC
Current sixth graders are required to have one dose of MCV4 vaccine and one does of Tdap vaccine before entering seventh grade. A record of administration of these vaccines must be provided to the school clinic as soon as possible this spring. Please see the letter below for complete details.
IMPORTANT UPDATES FROM THE CLINIC
By the end of this school year: If your child has medication, an Epi-pen, etc. stored or administered in the clinic, please be sure to stop by on or before the last day of school (June 3) to pick these items up. Any medication not claimed by dismissal on the last day will be discarded.
BEFORE the start of next school year: If your child will need medication, an Epi-pen, etc. stored or administered in the clinic NEXT YEAR, please be sure to complete the necessary paperwork BEFORE the start of the school year (i.e., schedule physician visits over the summer) and bring COMPLETED AND SIGNED FORMS to school on the first day. It is important that the clinic has these forms on file from the first day of school in order to legally store and administer medication. Please do not wait until school starts to complete these forms and have them signed by a physician. Forms can be found here. NEW PAPERWORK FOR MEDICATION, WHETHER PRESCRIPTION OR OVER-THE- COUNTER, IS REQUIRED EVERY SCHOOL YEAR… SO EVEN IF YOU FILLED OUT FORMS FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR, WE MUST HAVE NEW PAPERWORK FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR.
PLEASE PAY LATCHKEY BALANCES ASAP
As the school year winds down, please make sure your Latchkey balances are paid ASAP. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
DON'T FORGET TO SEND WATER BOTTLES WITH STUDENTS EACH DAY!
As they have been all school year, our drinking fountains remain closed due to COVID-19. Students need to bring a water bottle (or more than one if need be) to school each day, especially as the weather begins to get warmer. We do have "emergency" water bottles for students in the rare event they forget one, but we do not have enough to provide water on a routine basis. Your cooperation is appreciated!
