Valentine's Day

We will be hosting Valentine's Day classroom parties from 2:45 to 3:45 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 14th. We thank our parent volunteers for supporting our parties. There will be no food served at the parties. Students are welcome to bring a Valentine's Day card (NO candy please) for each classmate/student in his/her classrooms to show their care and appreciation. We hope the day is filled with lots of fun and kindness!

We will be holding a Kindness Week during the week of February 13th-17th. HERE is our plan. We look forward to this week of fun and care!

Recess & Cold Weather Guidelines

  • Students generally go outside for recess every day, so they should dress appropriately for the weather. Exceptions are made only when a child brings a doctor's note excusing him/her from outdoor recess.

  • Cold weather: Indoor recess is determined based on the following guidelines:

    • If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is below 0°F, all students will remain inside for the entire lunch hour.
    • If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is between 0°-10°F, the preferred procedure is a rotation of 20 minutes for lunch, a 20-minute outdoor recess, and a 20-minute indoor recess. However, at the principal's discretion, students may be kept inside for the entire lunch hour.
    • If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is above 10°F, students will have regular outdoor recess.
    • Please let us know if you have any questions related to our recess guidelines.

Wolfie Shop & Indoor Picnic

Students will participate in our 2nd trimester Wolfie Shop on Feb. 23rd and/or Feb. 24th. Keep earning those CBGs by showing respect, responsibility, and safety at school. The more you earn, the more you can buy at our Wolfie Shop.

Our next PBIS Celebration will be an indoor picnic during the lunch hour. Students will earn this celebration by following our 3 expectations regularly and consistently. Our indoor picnic will take place on February 24th. Students are welcome to bring a towel or blanket to sit on and share with a friend. There is nothing better than pretending the summer weather is here with us indoors during a winter picnic!

5Essentials Survey for Parents

We would love your feedback. The parent survey is to be completed by parents, guardians, or other caregivers with a child in grades pre kindergarten through grade 6 at Central Road School. The parent survey is available in English and Spanish and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.

A Note from Our Crossing Guard-Mrs. Kathy

The new calendar year is in full swing! Just a few things to go over with our community. First, a reminder that there is still a STOP sign at the exit to the school’s driveway. Please stop there at all times. The restricted turn rules on the sign also still apply. Another issue is at dismissal. When lining up to enter the driveway, facing eastbound, PLEASE do not block any private driveways and PLEASE do not block Brookemeade Drive. Please remember parking is only permitted in designated areas. Remember, yellow curbs indicate no parking. There is plenty of signage for no parking areas. Please refrain from crossing Central Road with your children or sending them across by themselves. As always, thank you for taking the time to read my communication.

Thank A Staff Member

At Central Road School, we encourage our students to show respect, kindness, and gratitude at all times. Our teachers and staff work hard at setting a positive example for all of our students. If you would like to recognize a teacher/staff member for his/her efforts, please fill out the form below and we will pass on the good news to them. The positive feedback warms our hearts and motivates us to keep doing our great, hard work for our community. Thank you very much for considering! Thank a Staff Member Link

A Note from our Health Office

Please kindly report any illnesses like strep, flu, pink eye, rsv, and/or covid to the Nurse's Office when confirmed by a doctor. Thank you for keeping your child(ren) at home when not feeling well. We continue to encourage consistent hand washing at school. Please email me with any questions related to your child's health needs at school. Thank you so much!
