  • Congratulations to Kirsten Golden as being selected as the 2016 Cullins Teacher of the Year. Kirsten is an amazing teacher and continues to be innovative and keeps her students engaged after many years of teaching!!!
  • Please join me in welcoming Russ Rachuig to the CLP Team. Russ has joined the transitions team as long term sub for the remainder of the school year. He has been a very positive influence on our students and we are so glad to have you here Russ!
  • Another new staff member to welcome to our team is Piper Sanders. Piper will begin next week as the ELAR Interventionist for 3-6 grades. Piper comes to us with a background in third and fourth grade. We are excited to have two interventionists serving our students and supporting our teachers.
  • Early Release Day on Wednesday: We will start our professional learning at 12:30. Boxed lunches will be provided from Chic-Fil-A along with tea. These will be in the lounge for you to pick up after dismissal. PK-K teachers will be with Denise Lohmiller in the PLC room to finish up your Literacy Academy. 1-6 teachers will meet in the library at 12:30 to begin the afternoon. You will spend this time analyzing data and designing small group instruction and intervention. Specials this time will be utilized for you to have PLC as a group. SpEd this time can also be used for PLC and team planning as well as working with grade level teachers to support your students. Specialists, I would like for you to be available to grade levels to help them in the designing of SGI and Intervention by providing resources and your content expertise. The following people need to use the afternoon to also update Test Hound for testing accommodations for your students: Cynthia Johnson, Laurie Shuler, Kasie Williamson, Holly Elsten, Shelley Allen, Kristi Groves, Jenifer Starnes, and Pam Sharp. Instructional Assistants will be meeting with Laura in the afternoon. You will report to the Science Lab.
  • Don't forget to sign up for a volunteer spot at Perot Science Night. This is a great fun night for the kids and lots of learning too!!

Jill's Corner

Happy Tuesday Cullins Friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We had a busy one! Makenzie competed in the UIL Solo and Ensemble competition for the region on Saturday and she made it to the State Round. We are very proud of her!! I was not at school yesterday. I missed you all!! Jack has been having some vision issues so I had to chauffeur him to several rounds of tests as his eyes were dilated and all kinds of stuff. I intended to be here late morning but we ended up having to do more tests in the afternoon. All seems to be fine except his stress level is causing the vision problems. So, he has four weeks to manage his stress. Let me know if you have any suggestions!!!

I am SO PROUD of our students that competed in the UIL competition on Saturday!!! They did a GREAT job! We had 14 students place in their events. This is double the number of kids placing last year!!! Thanks to all of the coaches that pushed and challenged these students to do their very best!!! It really paid off!!!

Spring break is just around the corner!! The weather is also looking like we will have a five day weekend for Memorial Day!!! I don't know about you but I am OVER the cold and ready for the spring!!!

Go out and BE AWESOME!!!
