Student Safety
September 28th 4-stage Lockdown DRILL
Dear Parents,
At MVHS, the safety and welfare of our students and staff are our highest priority, which is why we teach and practice safety drills throughout the school year. On Sept 28th, the Meridian Police Department will join us in conducting a 4-stage lockdown drill. These drills allow us to evaluate our plans and improve our response skills. Please do not be alarmed if you see several police vehicles in our parking lot during the drill.
If you have any questions or need further information about our safety drills, please feel free to contact us. We thank you in advance for your support in this matter.
Sincerely,
MVHS Administration
Lunch Time Reminders and Considerations
Please do everything you can to stay on campus at lunchtime. This includes walking or driving. Staying on campus is safer and ensures our students are back to class on time. Leaving campus creates congestion, creates safety issues when students try to rush back due to the limited time of 30 minutes for lunch. We have plenty of places for students to eat around campus. Thank you for your consideration. -Principal Montoya
Sidewalks and Crosswalks
Parents, please remind your students to use sidewalks and crosswalks when available. Random crossing through the parking lot is not recommended. Please don’t walk in front of buses or in unmarked zones where traffic is heavy.
Student Badges & Cell Phones
We wanted to thank you for a great start to this year.
We have some changes in our district and we want to keep our school safe for you and your friends. We have heard the questions coming into our office of why we are doing what we are doing at school. We will always look forward, not back, and change is always happening. Two of those changes are the badge and cell phone procedures.
Visibility is the top of the list. Students and staff wearing badges visibly, around the neck, while at school. It makes everyone recognizable for our security and SRO. Wearing a badge helps us know you belong. This also helps students identify staff members if they need assistance.
The school IDs are used to streamline daily operations such as class attendance, lunch lines, building access, library needs and even extracurricular activities.
If you are in the hallway during class, badges need to be visibly around your neck and your cell phone should be in the phone vault in your classroom.
Students without their badge displayed when asked by MVHS staff member, will be assigned 1 lunch detention the following day. Students' lunch detention will quickly be revoked when the student is able to present their badge to Security or Mr. Dicus the next day.
Habitual offenders will be contacted by Security or Mr. Dicus. Parents will be notified.
A Note from the Health Office
Reminder to students, you can bring, and self-administer your own over the counter medications, for example, Tylenol and Ibuprofen. Students are allowed to bring one day worth of over the counter medication to campus. Please do not bring a full bottle of a medication, but rather, just enough to get your student through the day. This helps keep students in class and learning. It also allows the Health Office to focus on higher-needed health concerns.
Mountain View's dental day at Meridian Schools Clinic is September 23rd. Please visit the West Ada website and follow the dental cleaning services link for further information.
Tardies
Detention begins 10 minutes after 2nd /Advisory period ends. Don’t be late.
Students with NC's from Spring 2022 may also attend detention to work toward earning credits back for excessive tardies.
