i-Ready VS MAP Growth, What's the difference?
i-Ready is an online program for reading and mathematics designed to help educators determine instructional needs, personalize online learning, and monitor student progress throughout the school year.
i-Ready consists of two components: Diagnostic and Instruction.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question.
- The assessment data is used to support the identification of students who are at-risk and in need of intervention and/or enrichment or acceleration.
MAP Growth is adaptive, which means that it adjusts question selection level based on student performance in order to provide a precise snapshot of student strengths and needs.
- MAP Growth also provides information that can be used to predict performance on PEAKS, SAT, and ACT testing.
What does this mean for me and my homeschooling students?
The bottom line is:
i-Ready will measure your student's unique knowledge, show their strengths and weaknesses and give you the tools to keep your child progressing at their own pace. The test can be stopped and started as many times as necessary, helping eliminate fatigue for the student. It is a diagnostic and it provides instruction in Reading and Math.
MAP GROWTH will measure your students' knowledge compared to their peers, letting them know if they are below, at, or above grade level. It will chart their growth each time the student takes the test. It can help to prepare them for standardized testing. It is a benchmark assessment only and does not provide instruction.
