In your opinion, why did the author choose to write this particular book? What was the big lesson to be learned?

The main lesson of Matched was to love your family no matter what. You can always get new friends, but you will have the same family forever. They will be the ones there for you and they will protect you.

All books are written for a purpose with specific themes in mind. What might be some possible themes in your novel?

Two themes, importance of freedom and love, are in Matched. Importance of freedom is one because the officials choose everything, who you love and when you die. Ally Condie is trying to get across how lucky we are to have freedom. In the novel, there is love. Cassia was matched with Xander, but she loves Ky. She also loves her friends and family and will do anything to keep them safe from the officials.
