Chemical Energy and Electricity
Kinetic Energy, Potential Energy and Sound
Kinetic energy (or energy of motion) is matter that is moving. All moving things have kinetic energy. It is energy that an object has due to its motion or movement. These include very large things like planets and very small things like atoms. The heavier the thing is the faster it moves and the more kinetic energy it has.
A vase still has potential energy until it hit's the ground. When it hits the ground it makes a sound because of matter vibrating. sound can travel through solids, liquids or gases. Not all sounds are the same some are low pitch and some are high pitch. Sounds can reflect or bounce off objects.
Sound
Sound is a type of energy made by vibration. When any object vibrates, it causes movement in air particles. These particles bump into the particles close to them, which makes them vibrate also causing them to bump into more air particles. This movement is called sound waves.

FAST FACTS!
Sound
This picture shows low pitch and high pitch.
Kinetic energy
This picture shows the person using kinetic energy to bike up the hill and bike down the hill.
Potential energy
The object that the girl is holding has potential energy because the object is high when the girl lets go the object loses it's potental energy.

Light and Heat
Most energy comes from the sun. Heat and light are another form of energy. Plants use light to make food. Light can also make things warmer. Heat is energy that moves from hot object to a cold objects. Light can also make an object warmer.
Words you should know! (Vocabulary Words)
Chemical Energy: Energy that is stored in the chemicals in matter.
Fossil Fuels: Include coal, oil, and natural gas. They formed from the remains of dead plants and animals.
Potential energy: The energy something has because of where it is located.
Kinetic Energy: The energy moving objects have.
Heat: Energy that moves from hot objects to cooler objects.
Pitch: used to describe how high something is.
