Celebrating Black History Month
February marks Black History Month, a tradition that got its start in the Jim Crow era and was officially recognized in 1976 as part of the nation's bicentennial celebrations. It aims to honor the contributions that African Americans have made and to recognize their sacrifices.
The digital display in the AGS Main Lobby will feature prominent figures and events from BHM along with a QR Code for students to interact and submit answers to BHM Trivia questions. Drawings will be held at the end of the month for a chance to win gift cards from local vendors.
AGS Book Fair
A BIG THANK YOU to our PTO for putting on another great book fair. We appreciate all of our parent volunteers that helped to set up, tear down, and work the book fair. The book fair would not be as successful if it weren't for all of our awesome parents!!
Drop-off/Pick-up Loop
We are receiving feedback from many parents regarding the loop off of Shiawassee. Specifically regarding vehicles not pulling all the way around when picking up/dropping off students. Please pull your vehicles all the way around the loop to ensure a smooth and efficient process. We appreciate your assistance in helping to make sure the loop remains safe for our students and efficient for those driving them.
AGS Student of the Month
Delaney Jones, 8th Grade
Delaney was selected as the AGS Student of the Month. She is a member of the STRIPES Club and an avid soccer player. Delaney was chosen for positive attitude and her willingness to help others. She exemplifies many P2 characteristics - positivity, caring for others, leadership, and humor are just a few. Congratulations, Delaney, and thank you for helping to make AGS a great place to learn!

THANK YOU AGS COUNSELORS
AGS is excited to celebrate our awesome counselors, Mrs. Welsh and Mrs. Peeler, during National School Counseling Week! School counselors play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students. They work tirelessly to provide a safe and supportive environment for all students to learn and grow.
This week, and every week, we celebrate the hard work and dedication of our school counselors. Thank you for all that you do!

Summer EBT Information
To receive the Summer EBT benefit, every family must have an approved student eligibility benefit (free or reduced) through their school. Households may need to complete and submit the School Meals and Summer EBT Application. Families will need to turn in this form ahead of count day to receive benefits over the summer. Count day is February 14, 2024.
LINK to Form: https://fenton.familyportal.cloud/
Eligibility Overview
Summer EBT benefits are available for eligible households based on their student eligibility status (free or reduced). This can be from direct certification, categorical eligibility, or from the School Meals and Summer EBT Application.
What is Summer EBT?
As part of our collaborative efforts to enhance USDA's summer nutrition programs, the Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer Program for Children (Summer EBT) will officially launch in summer 2024. Summer EBT provides grocery-buying benefits to low-income families with school-aged children when schools are closed for the summer. More than 29 million children across America could benefit from Summer EBT.
Community Partners
AGS would like to thank following local businesses for their support of our staff and students. Carlson's Greenhouse and Gill-Roy's Hardware donated Holiday decorations to our school. Bill Carr Sign's recently installed 3M Safety Film and a customized perforation film on the front entrance of AGS. We appreciate all of our Community Partners.
Thank you DRIP Car Wash of Fenton
Thank you to our partners at DRIP Car Wash of Fenton (3709 Owen Road) for providing gift cards to the staff at AGS. Your generosity and support of our staff is appreciated!
Ski Club
Mt Holly reopened this week, and Mrs. Loria will be out there Friday, 1/5/24 2:30 PM - 8:00 PM. As announced in the Remind message, there is no pre-sale this week. However Mrs. Loria will be in the ticket lobby 2:30-3:30pm and then at a table in the normal area: upstairs, past the ski shop- between fireplace and main cafeteria 3:35-8:00pm. Look for a Fenton sign! She will have forms and cards for new members to sign up as well at Mt. Holly. (Nothing at school 1/5).
Please remember that the prices went up to $30 this year. Please have exact change/check made out to Mt. Holly or Venmo.
Excited to finally enjoy the slopes!
