Dragon Roar: 09.08.19 Week 4

Daring Greatly in Faith, Academics & Service since 1960

We are firmly rooted!

Good evening, dragons!

In today's gospel Jesus teaches about the demands of discipleship.

"Great crowds were traveling with Jesus,
and he turned and addressed them,
“If anyone comes to me without hating his father and mother,
wife and children, brothers and sisters,
and even his own life,
he cannot be my disciple.
Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me
cannot be my disciple."

Our Gospel calls us to put God first and to offer all of our lives, including our possessions. Jesus explains that, when it comes to making a choice for the Kingdom of God, nothing can get in the way--family, money, your own life---we must each bear our own cross. How do we as family support each other towards discipleship? How do we root ourselves in Christ each day?

Mayor's Fitness Council Students Finalize Grant Proposal

Big picture

Want to support?

Our Mayor's Fitness Ambassadors have been working together for a full year now to develop a health and wellness grant for St. Monica. On Saturday they came together to practice their pitch. Our students have requested updated athletic facilities and are working on a grant for a weight room and family fitness nights. If this excites you and you want in, please email me at asalazar@saintmonica.net--we are looking for any volunteers, fitness instructors, a washer/dryer donation and more!

Pray for our team as they will be presenting next month to the Mayor's Fitness Council Team!
