From The Desk of Donna Lemaire, Principal

Grandparents’ Days were incredible. Both days we had a great turnout. Our students were so excited to have their grandparents visit their classrooms. They wait anxiously at the door and watch for that special Maw Maw and Paw Paw and once they see their grandparents their eyes light up. While the fourth through eighth graders are taller and cooler, they still were waiting and excited, in a cool way. They took their grandparents on a tour of every classroom, trying to meet all their teachers. They were so proud of their grandparents. Some grandparents have been here for more than ten Grandparents' Days. All were there to celebrate their grandchildren. So many grandparents expressed their joy over their grandchildren being part of a Catholic school. Their faith is an important part of the foundation these children have for their own journeys. Behind the scenes and moving quietly around the reception tables are many moms helping to make this event special. Dads are outside helping guide people in the parking lot. Each generation surrounding children with love and giving children a living example of service and commitment to Catholic education. Love is a powerful force, especially when it emanates from a strong faith. In all these examples of love, we see a glimpse of the unconditional love of God who IS love. Experiencing and centering in God gives each of us the grace we need to be open to the Spirit of Love who empowers us to live as reflections of His Love. Be Empowered.

We look forward to seeing many of our SPES families tomorrow night at the 2014 Homecoming game at STM. Game time is 6 p.m. but come out anytime after 5:30 p.m. The concession stand will be selling pizza if you would like to make it a "no cook" night at home ... just buy pizza and other goodies and join the big family picnic as SPES continues to ROCK Homecoming Week!

A huge" Thank You" to the many wonderful volunteers who helped with Grandparents Days. A special "thank you" to Christi Credeur and
Denise Ramon for co-chairing the event once again. It would be impossible to host such a successful function without each and every one of you!! Some of wonderful compliments we heard from our very special grandparents: “ You all treat us like kings and queens”, “We are so blessed that our grandchildren are in this wonderful school”, “We have grandchildren in others schools up and down the Gulf Coast and St. Pius is by far our favorite, we are able to spend time with our grandchildren in the classroom, then we are fed delicious food and we are able to enjoy children performing”!!
