Dear BCS Community,
We just completed our first trimester on Friday, November 20th. Report cards will be going home with students on Friday, December 4th.
Please check out the first issue of the OCSU Equity Newsletter; it is linked below.
Thank you for your flexibility and cooperation thus far in the face of new safety protocols and procedures. We are grateful that we have been able to offer 5 days a week of in-person learning to our students.
Our ability to remain in-person has relied on multiple factors, one of which is the expectation that families follow state guidance around out-of-state travel and social gatherings. We depend on families’ self-reported daily screening information; it puts us all at risk when that information is inaccurately reported.
OCSU School Messenger from Bev Davis:
Hello OCSU Families,
We’d like to remind everyone of Governor Scott's latest Executive Order which makes it very clear that multi-household social gatherings are not allowed, especially as we head into the Thanksgiving weekend. In updated written guidance yesterday, schools have been informed that we are to consider these limits on social gatherings when allowing students and staff into our buildings. The guidance makes it clear that the limits do not apply to pods that are in place related to childcare.
We are asking that upon returning from Thanksgiving break, your child quarantine if they have not been able to follow the limitations as described. The same rules apply to staff.
We are taking these steps to keep our schools open. We know that in-person education is what is best for students. Thank-you for partnering with us during these challenging times.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Please reach out by email at lfliegelman@ocsu.org or leave a voicemail at extension 102, 754-8467 to let us know that your child will need to quarantine. Thank you again for your cooperation and keeping our school community safe.
Sincerely,
Larry Fliegelman

Reminders
Masks:
Please remember to send your child to school with a cloth mask. We will have extras on hand to provide students who may forget, damage, or lose them. Children over the age of two will be required to wear them in school and on the bus, per state guidelines.
Sick Children:
If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home. It is critical for the safety of everyone that we do our best to limit the possibility of exposure. We all have a role in making sure our staff and students are safe. We will be following guidelines from the Health Department when a child presents any symptoms at school
Food/Treats from Home to Share
Another outcome of COVID-19 is a change in our policy around allowing food to be brought in and shared with classmates for a birthday or other celebration. Homemade cakes, cupcakes, cookies, etc. are not allowed. Only pre-packaged and unopened food will be allowed.
