Mr. Chapman
From The Art Room
Students have been doing a fantastic job this term, and taking on new ideas and challenges.
8th Grade is finishing a comic strip project right before Break and will be moving into something new before we get to our altered book unit which will take 3-4 weeks. I will be talking to the students about this project more in depth this week.
7th Grade are finishing up their comic book covers, a project we had to scrap in the beginning of the year, but now they are taking it on like champs. I am so proud of their efforts! They will be moving on to Oil pastel landscapes in the tradition of Post Impressionists.
6th Grade are just finishing up on a torn paper project, that took a few weeks, but will be moving into tessellation and back into a little bit of design work.

When we return from spring break we will make a video approximately 3-4 minutes in length. The students will add music, transitions, text, etc. On Thursday these students made Superhero avatars to go along with our discussion of profile pictures on media sties and Internet Safety. See some of their creations below.
7th and 8th grade "wheel" reviewed the Microsoft Word unit Part 1 along with practicing their keyboarding as well.

Choir students ARE NOT required to participate in the play, but will know the music should they choose to volunteer their time for performances!
6th grade Arts Alive students have been studying Beethoven, and music notation. We have also been discussing the orchestra, and the instrument families found in an orchestra. We are concentrating on note and rest values.
