King Louis XIV
Ruler of France for 72 years
How they controlled everything
Expanded the bureaucracy and appointed intendants, royal officials who collected taxes, from the middle classes.
He controlled church and nobles by checking their power.
"It's good to be king"
Kind Louis turned France into the country all European countries wanted to be, educated, refined, and stable. Unlike most monarchs he centralized his government. To make his government more stable he rocked Provençal nobles to relinquish political influences and construct the middle class with more centralized administration.
