Desert Mountain School Earns an 'A' School Rating, Again!

The Arizona Department of Education has release the school ratings for the 2021-22 school year and Desert Mountain students have earned our school an A letter grade by excelling in academics and exceeding growth targets. A HUGE shout out to the teachers and families who supported these amazing students on their educational journey. Well done everyone!

Congratulations to our First Quarter Award Recipients!

On Nov. 30th we celebrated achievement in the arts, academics, athletics and citizenship with a schoolwide recognition assembly. Students in K-8 were recognized in the area of citizenship through our PBIS acronym, H.A.W.K. (Honorable, Accountable, Willing and Kind). Students in grades 3-8 received the new Academic Excellence Award for achieving proficiency on standards taught during the first quarter. Our next recognition assembly will be on Jan. 20th and we will be inviting families to attend. We will be recognizing students in the following areas:

Academic Excellence, Winter Athletics, Music, Band and the Arts, HAWK Character, A Soaring Reader and Mathematician, Growth from Q1-Q2, and our Desert Mountain High Flyers.

Student Council Fundraiser: Holiday Grams $1.00

Our amazing Student Council will be raising funds in December with a Holiday Gram fundraiser. Students may purchase holiday grams during lunch.

Celebrate the Season with a Holiday Sing-a-long on Dec 16th

Families, please join our staff and students as we come together for a schoolwide Holiday Sing-a-long assembly to start our last day of 2022. Students and staff will be dressed in their favorite holiday spirit sweaters to conclude our spirit week. If you'd like to get a jump start on learning the songs, here's our playlist:

STEM Lab Coming to Desert Mountain

STEM Lab Coming to Desert Mountain

In partnership with our fantastic Gifted Specialist, Mrs. Tiffaney Ellis, Desert Mountain will be opening a Maker Space classroom for student use. By using funds from the ADE 100 Day Grant, we will be purchasing Science Technology Engineering and Math supplies to provide extension activities for all students. The classroom will be available to all staff for use and we hope to offer before and after school opportunities in the space starting in the spring.

Veterans and Their Families Attend DM Appreciation Assembly

Thank you to our families and Veterans who attended our Veterans Day assembly in November. Over 35 veterans from our community were able to attend and be recognized for their service to our country. What a special way to spend the morning.

Desert Mountain is inviting all parents to join our PTO for the 2022-23 school year. We have several family friendly events planned and need your support to make them happen. PTO is looking for donations of sweet and salty treats for the DM staff. As part of the "12 Days until Winter Break" countdown, staff will be appreciated each day with a different treats or surprises from Administration and PTO. We'd love donations of salty and sweet treats to spoil our staff on the Naughty or Nice: Sweet Treats Day. Please bring all store bought items to the front office by December 12th. Thank you for your generosity!

A Hawk Call Out is an unsolicited special recognition that acknowledges a Desert Mountain staff member who has demonstrated a special effort, an outstanding job, a caring and sensitive attitude, or someone going the extra mile.
