A Note from the Principal
Over the last 2 weeks we have had a big focus on building community. We started this by having a family picnic and games afternoon last Friday. The weather was perfect and it was lovely to see so many families enjoying each others company. We played cricket (where a number of emerging young stars came out to play), parachute games, face painting and skipping.
Today students participated in walk, ride or scoot to school with a great many of our students choosing one of these methods to come to school.
Thanks to Bicycle VIctoria for their donation to our day and Sausage Sizzle lunch.
Thanks to bread from Bakers Delight and Sausages from the Main St Butchers, not only were they absolutely delicious but in keeping with one of our core values - Community. Supporting the business' that support us is a great way to end the week.
Our School Captains Scarlett and Oscar spent a few hours making sure that every student was fed and had a bottle of water. Not only that, but we recycled as many of the bottles as we could (to make mini greenhouses) to help our sustainability program.
There will be a sausage sizzle outside the Main St Butchers tomorrow morning with all money raised coming back to the school. I can assure you that the sausages are well worth a trip into town.
Great work everyone!

House Athletics
Last Thursday we held our second annual House Athletics Sports at Mt Evelyn. The day was a great success and it was fantastic to see all of our Year 3 - Year 6 students involved in a range of track and field events. A massive thank you to all of the parents who assisted on the day, without your help the day would not have been the success that it was.

We Are Confident!
I interviewed some grade 4 and 5 students about the school value, ‘We Are Confident’. They were keen to share their thoughts.
A common theme was, encouraging others to feel confident by saying things like, ‘well done, you can do it!’ These words can inspire us to try harder and to persevere when the going gets tough. It’s wonderful to hear students encouraging each other.
Each school value impacts another…the words of the people in our community can affect our level of confidence. And this in turn can affect our learning.
I hope you enjoy reading what they shared.
“Being confident is good because it helps us do scary things. Having ‘We are confident’ as a school value makes me feel confident about the school and makes me want to go to the school.” Tyler (grade 4)
“You learn more if you’re confident. You can help someone feel more confident by saying, ‘Good job and ‘Don’t give up.’" MJ (grade 4)
“You can encourage someone to feel confident by saying, ‘You can do it. Believe in yourself’.
I feel confident when someone says, ‘You can do this. I trust you.’" Shyloh (grade 5)
"Having ‘We are confident’ as a school value encourages you to keep trying and be nice to people." Riley (grade 5)
“You won’t learn if you don’t feel confident.” Hayden (grade 5)
“Confidence encourages you to be kind to people.” Chloe B. (grade 5)
Have a fabulous week.
